that's awesome! thanks so much for sharing. Wetsech, if you take a look in the Member's Rides section under cool deuce pics http://www.steelsoldiers.com/DotNetForum/default.aspx?f=66&m=5616&p=3 I posted a few deuce gun trucks in there. But these two are ones I hadn't ever seen before. I...
nope, that does it. I leave my vent open all the time, I've found that crusing down the road with fan motor off I get almost as much hot air forced into the cab as with the motor on. I use the motor when I park it to cool down the engine, or if I'm stopped somewhere
interesting concept. My only fear about putting insulation would be messing up the stock airflow. YOu couldn't block any spots where air would normally be able to move (would have to be thin), since in summer you need to yank that cover off and it flows as designed. Wouldn't hurt putting...
one is under the frame, looking at the front of the truck, it's to your left, so, on the right side of the truck, the other two are in series on the left side of the engine block. They're real tall, can't miss 'em
next time the truck is cold, disconnect the low air warning buzzer, under the dash on the center of the firewall. Then turn on the accessory and check the pump. YOu can start your truck without it, but it is VERY difficult.
Also, you shouldn't ever pump the pedal trying to start a...
now, when it's done like that it looks good. How many inches between the outside plane of the tire and the edge of the bed? I've seen some flipped hubs when the tire ends up like 6 inches in, is that because of wheel backspacing or tire choice or what? I like yours
aha! so you were able to snap a pic of the infamous R4x4, great work, now for your next mission :0
that's about the smile I had when I got back to Reno with mine, never drove one before I picked mine up hehehehe
quick question regarding this- I was always under the impression the 5 ton had a longer front clip to accomodate the larger engine. Is that only some model engines?
thanks
the weekend before I took spray on rust killer and hit some spots, then washed it. That's it, the camo paint goes on pretty good, and the CARC made a good base coat :freaked:
interesting you mention that- one thing deterring me from swapping is the look. YOu can't beat the look of all that rubber on the road, and unless you're running super singles, or have the single backspaced deuce wheels, it looks odd with the tires inboard. The front already looks odd, but to...
Personally, I am not sure I would use just the deuce. Sure, it's fun and I like it more than my pickup, but my pickup is much easier to drive. The deuce is very loud and tiring, the clutch and brakes are stiff, it's manual steering, very rough ride, it eats tires like a MOFO and it gets 10 to...
The army found long ago that singles were vastly superior in offroad capabilities, but kept the duals for load handling ability, and in the event of a flat you could keep going. With the singles, you get the front and rear track in the same line, which helps cause you don't have to break down...
yeah, every one I've seen has the front end nose high :nono:
I can see maybe buying a nicely restored one if you've got the money to blow, like you're some rich kook, but the fact is these things are destroyed! None of the ones I've seen look even close to road ready. Now, maybe it's just...
look in Military Vehicles Magazine and ask around for those that specialize in hauling military and classic vehicles. There are several well respected haulers, and those not so respected. I'd venture to say any standard tow company will put the screws to you, that's just my personal opinion...
