It was obvious this unit had rust issues beyond other units I have seen, but it was an M925, which is what I wanted.
The way the unit was rusting looked to be classic salt water environment rust, but who really knows. This was top of mind for me as a the priority maintenance item to address...
Update - New livery in progress
Here are some before, during and after shots. Just the forward cab done so far. Bumper done in Rodda brand and cab done in Behr brand, all the same color mix.
New livery will be U.S. Navy SeeBees.

Big Thunk
Well, maybe things were going just a little too smoothly.........
My M925 seems to have developed a big "thunk" when the auto tranny downshifts to first gear. Its enough to rattle the truck a bit.
With the execption of early shift points that need adjustment, that tranny is as...
Update.
Be advised, Seatle Convoy Info as follows:
The rally point for the 7/20 Seattle Convoy to the Napavine SS Rally will be at Exit 152, heading due south on the I-5 freeway.

That makes sense as the unit was in service in Iraq with an arty unit.
I was struggling with how to retain the image after a repaint (and the rust demands paint), as it is part of the trucks...

So historical plates wont work for me.
Yes, agree,, very interesting and very kind of you to post up this info.
Your english translation is excellent and very read-able.
I think the specs for the ZIS are conservative,
"Overcoming obstacles - a trench 1.5 m, 0.6 m vertical wall, the rise of 35 degrees, lateral inclination of...
Plated her and the little tag along today. Not historical plates though, too restrictive.
Now I need to fab up some sort of plate lamp for the rear plates. Anyone blazed that trail yet?
Also picked up my 1st gallon of CRC paint using the BEHR formula.
Will see how it comes out, pics to...
