I agree maintenance can be extensive, but that is really one of my favorite parts, getting in there, getting dirty and seeing how things work...I get lost for hours fooling with the machines, I wouldn't have it any other way...now if your the kind of guy who gets someone else to wash his car and...
Moving up to tracked armor was one of the scarier things I have tried in this hobby...but I have never looked back. My advice...go for it..you will not regret it!
It will be interesting to see if they do the right thing regarding the Sherman tank gun they have affixed to their turret now that the museum is closing...I know there are lots of people watching and waiting to see what decision they make...
Really such an incredible piece of craftsmanship, why he can't be proud to say he completely fabricated it almost single handed is beyond me...forget the lies and trying to get people to believe it is something it isn't and be proud of the incredible accomplishment you have achieved...
Unfortunately not one word coming out of his mouth happens to be true...maybe they could produce the serial # for us? Found it in a scrapyard in Calgary...getting deep in here...maybe the they found the scrap steel they fabbed it from...but for they for **** sure did not locate anything else...
Thanks USMC...I am going to see if I can find the NAPA one locally and have a look at it...as for the tires Kat...they are Generals, I think they were installed by the Canadian Forces as an alternative to the NDT's when the vehicle was used heavily in areas with lots of snow and ice...
About five years since she last ran, finally got on it this weekend...she is purring like a kitten but the I think the Master cylinder has given up, has anyone swapped for the NAPA M2842...and if so, what was the swap like? Direct bolt up or...?
One more thought on the British Mechanic needed arena, have you tried David Wang at Army Trucks Inc. in Santa Clarita? He has had lots of British vehicles in his stable over the years, 432's, Abbots, etc. He probably has a mechanic who could help you out and he isn't that far from you.
I am glad my 432 is a gasser, I have had both and will never go Diesel again on the 432, the gasser runs circles around the diesel, and when the governor got low on oil and that sucker ran away until it grenaded...scariest thing ever. Dirty, smoky, smelly mess those burbling diesels...but be...
The fact it was built from scratch is absolutely amazing, workmanship fabbing the turret and mantlet are second to none, some of the upper hull is a bit patchwork as sheets of steel seem to have been fit together here and there, I am guessing to use what material was already on hand. It is a...
Not actually an M10 at all but a replica cobbled together from scrap steel and suspension salvaged from a forestry yarder...why they used that 3 piece front end with old single anchor brakes is beyond me. Incorrect for any M10 replica. The drivetrain is a cobbled together system including a...
Walker Auto Wrecking in Hesperia California, Dave has tons of HMMWV parts, great guy, easy to deal with, sells on ebay and ships worldwide (760) 244-8060
Smith will not answer your email, that site is years old, those M113's are long gone, the ones that were not sold to other NATO countries were trucked to Victoria BC and literally shredded.
Tankman Marc has a M113 restoration project for sale in up state New York. M113 are difficult to own but there are several in private hands throughout the world, including Canada and the USA. If that is the one you are after they are out there and I can tell you from personal experience there is...
US citizens CAN absolutely import US armor, any armor built before 1956 can be imported into the USA with ATF form 6, no State or Commerce Department authorization required. Anything built after 1956 requires State Department approval but also can absolutely be done. Don't let the uniformed ruin...
Do you have any pictures of what the missing stuff looks like? I have a lot of instrument panels and gunners controls from the Littlefield auction. Might be some M60 stuff in there. Also try contacting the Mechanized Museum at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside CA, they have restored a beautiful A3...
