    Tip for fixing vibration

Picked up 2 5 ton's a couple of months ago. My 923 had a violent vibration around 45 mph and then 60 mph. Not a axle hop but more like a dog when trying to wring itself wet. It was about to the point sometimes I thought it was going to shake the windows out of the truck. I was told it was...

HMMWV, A1 & A2 years? ( various axle shafts and components)

Helped a friend remove his axles today. He had purchased an axle off ebay that supposedly was for a 998. Here is a pix of 7k axles and what I think to be a 12k axle. (12k at the top). (10k are the same dimensions as 7k's from what I'm told.) We then measured what we think is the 12k...

HMMWV, A1 & A2 years? ( various axle shafts and components)

Ok, thanks. I miss read a prior post. So basically, the numbers are related to the GVW of the hmmwv? Mine states it's 7,700, but we have one that's rated at 10,000. So the 10k gvw vehicles would have the 10k axles. Some of the 7,700 that have been serviced and maybe upfitted could have the...

HMMWV, A1 & A2 years? ( various axle shafts and components)

I went and looked at the pix of the one I purchased. By the pictures above, it looks like a 12k right?

HMMWV, A1 & A2 years? ( various axle shafts and components)

Thanks everyone, can you go by the model year of the units in trying to determine this? Thanks again. I haven't gotten mine but I'm trying to help a friend who has one.

HMMWV, A1 & A2 years? ( various axle shafts and components)

As the title states, we were reading through a TM and I've searched on this forum and it appears the axle shafts are different between all revisions. I'm looking for information on the axle shafts. We have several 998's ranging from 88 to 92 and we're trying to figure out the part numbers and...

    M998 Hard door options

There was another thread but the OP got excited when somebody posted on his thread so I'm starting my own. Don't care about any type of "bullet proofing" but looking for legitimate options. Has anybody ever tried to use H1 doors on a 998? X doors would probably be the preference but would...

    Ibis Tek Light Bar Install

This is an old thread but I'm hoping you can help me figure out what else I need and where to get the parts. I have an IBIS Tek 24" light assembly shown in the pictures. That's all I had. I'm trying to figure out where I can get the wiring harness and switches I need to mount these lights...

    Limited Slip diffs only?

Had a friend bring over a 998. We were experimenting on some obstacles I've built for my Polaris. Same as with my M932, the M998 we noticed appeared only to spin the 1 front and 1 rear and most times the one with the least weight on them? Is there a way to lock in the axles, front and rear if...

Has anybody towed a M998 with a large wrecker?

For anybody else, ended up taking an RGN. The place that loaded had a wrecker with a lift that cradled the tires. I wouldn't put a big wrecker up under the bottom.

    All tires not spinning

M932 & M923, I thought these were actual 6 wheel drives. Got in some soft stuff today and disappointingly all 6 wheels weren't pulling. Looked like limited slip? Am I missing something, is there anyway to lock in all 6 wheels? (

    M923: mudding or not?

I've got to believe it's physics. 21,000 lbs in soft mud you're burying. Today, we had a M998 and some steep hills I built on my property for my UTV's. 998 took the hills like a champ. My M932, just too heavy. It sunk sunk some in the soil, tires got gummed up and it wouldn't go up. Had...

    M923A2 Alternator Fried

Either purchase a replacement or search on Delco 22si conversion. I just went that route myself.

Has anybody towed a M998 with a large wrecker?

We have RGN's if the tow truck route doesn't work. The truck I'm towing down doesn't run just trying to save hassle of dragging it on and off the trailer if I could help it. Thanks

Has anybody towed a M998 with a large wrecker?

Need to pick up a M998 in GA. I also need to tow a propane truck down which is going to require a 25-ton wrecker. I was hoping to tow the one truck down and pick up the other one. However, I'm not sure the pickup platform on the 25-ton wrecking will work for the M998. Typically, the wreckers...

    Ignition and battery switch conversion

Has anybody ever tried to convert the battery disconnect to the old Catepillar disconnect? And then then converting the ignition switch to a caterpillar ignition switch? I know there are keyed switches out there but I'm thinking it would be nice to do something that works with my equipment...

    M925A2 Delco Style Alternator

I've tried calling SpiderMarine all day. One time I got some lady that repeated everything I said twice about ordering an alternator. I then figured out she was an with an answering service. I've sent an email and tried calling back all day. Really would like to find another alternative or...

anyone recommend a shipping co or person for transport

Shipping you're probably going to be somewhere between $2 & $3 a mile if it requires an RGN. Cheaper if they have a dock to load it on a step deck. (Verify the height and it won't be over 13'6" tall on the step.) Then where it's going you'll need a dock or possibly find somebody that has...
