Bigwhale, thanks for the youtube tip, I did watch the video. I just got my truck, thinking it was very cool to have a monster, as well as give new life to tired soldiers, but to my dismay realizing these may require more mechanical aptitude and commitment than I can ever muster. My head is...
Why is it that all the ole' timers give these snappy answers, especially to newbies, instead of actually helping the poster by answering the question? I've spent hours trying to wade through hundreds of pages of manuals for various questions and issues; and if you don't know what you don't know...
Is there a link or thread showing how to service the air dryer? I tried to search, but didn't find anything. And also, when my primary and secondary pressure gauges go near 150, the truck makes a funky noise, much to my kids' delight... I gather from reading threads this is the excess pressure...
Thank goodness for this thread, I was freaking out... my 923a2 first lost horn 2 weeks ago and today wipers inop. I could hear clicking when pressing the horn, but nothing happening. Seems like my PPV is frozen/stuck. Glad it's a common problem, so at least I can now try to figure out cure. Is...
Wow, your wife is unbelievable. A few of my friends' wives were throwing tomatoes at me when they found I bought one and they don't have to live w/it or pay for it!!
+1. Have been unable to get SF 97 while waiting to arrange transport. GL is one of the least friendly post purchase processes around. I've spent easily 20 hours on phone and web trying to piece together this stuff... from whether CDL/non CDL on 5 ton, to how to get it registered as "classic"...
I bought an M923A2 in Sparta, sight unseen and went through 2 weeks of headbanging. It's coming here tomorrow. I was lucky to find a hauler that runs a fleet of 53 foot step deck trailers and brought back 2 trucks from Sparta to East Coast, one to me in PA and one to VA for Redblok. We paid...
This is exactly what I've been looking for, after seeing some youtube videos of other SS rallies. Unfortunately, my M923A2 is getting hauled from Sparta TODAY, s/b here tomorrow, but there is no way I'm getting all the titling/registration work completed with PennDOT by next weekend... still...
Gem, $2K based on $370/ton shredded scrap in Houston at the time and $.51/lb aluminum... Take blend of weights in vehicle, subtract non rev items and gross rev was about $2K. As far as making money, it all depends... there is a certain cost/ton in labor, fuel, machinery, etc. The scrap guys know...
Bump.
I remember this GL auction very well and my company was asked to fund the scrap bid. When we underwrote the deal based on scrap pricing -- no parting allowed, the #'s weren't working. Sure enough, whoever won the bid might have had a different disposition strategy.
From what I recall...
Hey sagmill, if you got your m923, at Sparta, I was high bidder on a unit at Sparta that closed yesterday and I'm in Bucks County (Newtown PA). We should coordinate transport. I understand a low boy trailer can fit 2 units and if we can find someone looking for a backhaul to east coast, it will...
If you need a backhaul from midwest to east coast, I will need to move 923A2 from 54656 to 18940 (Sparta Wisconsin to Philadelphia PA area). Timing flexible but w/in next 2 weeks preferred.
Everyone is focusing their comments on cost of plates/insurance and need to inspect when discussing antique/classic plates vs. regular plates. What about CDL?? I heard, but not certain, that if you have MV w/classic plate or antique plate you do not need a CDL. Is that true?
I'm keen to find...
