You can sometimes tell bad rings by seeing how much blow by is happening in the crank by pulling the oil cap while it is running.

My seat belts are attached to the frame of the truck with a flexible piece in between. I just don't think the springer is capable of supporting that kind of lateral force that a crash will make.

Me and my wife have talked about making some form of latch system in ours but the seat belt works fine on the bench. I would think of bolting rings to the seat frame but i doubt you could attatch anything to the springer that could take that kind of lateral force a crash would make. The belts...

I have spent a long time in various HMMWVs and suburbans/1009s and they seem to not be that bad. Just put a muffler of some kind on it and you'll be ok.
