How awesome is that video shot of a truck intercepting that boat!?
We can easily forget how capable these vehicles are. It's good to see what they are capable of.
It was a little scary seeing how close the water came to the inlet tube. It looked like a little bit slurped in at one point...
From recent posts, the abundance of crack heads plus the high cost of scrap means that it is likely that someone will steal your radiator. Unfortunately, they are pretty easy to hack out. I guess they would also want the batteries, but at least it is more feasible to take your batteries with...
Rule of thumb, 3500 watts just for a refrigerator, control circuits for your varius heaters, and a tv set or computer.
10,000 watts for running most of the house, possibly including some a/c.
In both of the above examples, you need to watch that you do not exceed the ampacity of the genset...
Those marks look like damage caused by metal bits circulating through the oil system. The slight scratches on the crank journal(s) is insignificant. You can install new bearing shells as already stated by m16.
You should try to see where the particles came from. Check what you can get to...
So there is a rivet hole in the right place for a spring perch for installing the axle such that you keep the stock (original length) drive shaft? Good to know!
Just noticed - is that dude using the torch without goggles? Or was that just for the photo?
These trucks are tough and are designed to function under extreme conditions in combat and/or driven roughly by 18 year old recruits. You probably have not yet done any damage. That said, you should be able to engage the clutch and shift s-m-o-o-t-h-l-y. This does not mean an extended amount...
Nope!
I love it when you pass a full-size dualie going the other way. The guy driving it pretends not to notice - he won't even make eye contact - and you can almost lip-read his girlfriend sitting alongside saying "I thought you told me yours was the biggest truck".
:)
Edit: I must admit...
My understanding is that the I-beam section of the torque rods is needed because they are designed to twist as the axles articulate. Most if not all of the rods I have seen lengthened had solid stock welded inside the channel. Would this not limit the ability of the lengthened rods to twist...
I have to agree, it looks awesome. Great recycling of material, too. I'd buy it from you in a NY minute if you were selling (and I had any $$$!). Nice job!
Looks good. I like the way you held up the spring and brackets to fit them in place. And the frame cut looks really clean for having been done with an oxy-acetylene torch. Nice work.
Even better than PB or Kroil is candle wax, beeswax being the best. Get it hot and touch the candle to the stud. TThe long wax molecules get drawn right inside and provide a slippery surface for removal, plus the wax can withstand a higher temperature.
When I was in the service we had deuce and a halfs and 5 tons. I loved the smell of the exhaust, the whistle of the turbos, but most of all, I loved the look - especially the nose/front end. Every time I looked at one I admired the unbelievable ability our country had to design and build an...
Yes, I do have a fire extinguisher in my truck. Actually, two - one in the cab and another on the pioneer rack. But take notice of where my intake stack is. It is extended up (fording stack). In a real runaway situation, I am skeptical that I - or anyone - could scale the fender, get the...
LOL, it was this thread that ran away. It started when I noticed it was 1 minute 'til midnight and I had completely forgotten about April Fool's day. This theme seemed obvious since there had been a lot of chatter about runaways. Anyway, once started, I asked my son if he could cobble a video...
