This is an old thread, but is there any other suggestions about insurance companys? I just got off the phone with my State Farm agent and she said Hagerty will not insure it unless it is garaged kept and she quoted me, bare bones plain jain insurance at $618 per year.
I am trying to call...
What I had in mind was getting several barrels and collecting used oil, hydrolic fluid, and transmission fluid; then getting one of those inexpensive pumps you hook up to a compressor (as mentioned earlier). Then running some goldenrod fuel filters (1 fuel filter and then 1 water separator)...
Any updates as to how your setup is working? I want to build something similar and I am considering an air run pump or a hand crank pump to push WMO through filters and into the fuel tank.
Guys, I really appreciate all your responses! I am trying some of them on her and making deals to round up the money. It might take a few months, but she might come around, but keep the ideas rolling in.
Here I am test driving the truck, I liked the other one he had better (no oil leaks to be seen and a brand new looking transfer case). Only problem is that the other one had a soft top and no heater.
She went with me on the test drive (refused to ride in the truck though) and I have explained to her about the fuel, that we can haul things for friends, and if there is a flood we can drive through it. It may be a several year argument, but I hope she will eventually cave in!
I test drove one Saturday, and realized there is no turning back. My wife had hoped that once I drove one that I might not like it. I am selling guns, looking for a second part time job, fixing up my Silverado to sell, and trying to convince my wife that it is ok to have a military truck...
You'd have to put a major lift on the body to build one of those v bottoms. My buddy works on those MRAP's and said we could bob a deuce and build our own version. If you really want to build something like an MRAP, with all that armor weight you would definately need to start off with a 5 ton...
We all love it! A deuce and a half makes quick work of a pool and I will keep that in my memory bank just in case I ever have to rip down a pool in a hurry.
