I can only imagine going through that storm in an old MV. I was in my 2009 Impala and I had to keep the speeds down or it was getting sketchy. I had a full car of people, and I had the traction control light come on going 55 in a straight line, had a ton of torque steer merging onto 78 (I almost...
Looks like a great day and big turnout despite the rain! I'll definitely be there next time those pictures are awesome. My truck would have been the weirdo red one in a group of all OD machines haha
I was actually at Kutztown University visiting my friends and we went to Cigars International on...
Good info. I'm pretty sure there is a plate on the dash instructing the operator when appropriate downshift points are if needed. Correct me if I'm wrong, I remember seeing that from all of the videos and pictures I've seen!
Our generation needs to keep the MV hobby alive! Thanks for all of the info. It sounds exactly like some of the vehicles I have driven - unsynchronized R and First, Zero visibility out back because of mirrors, and of course big + slow.
The NDT's are going to be interesting to get used to...
I'm not really looking to do any major mods to the battery set up, but I like the idea of the plastic battery box. That would protect them from the elements pretty well. I agree about the overkill on capacity. Like I said I started it yesterday with at least a 10 year old Autozone battery from...
Hmm I guess I could just bring the hold down tray and some measurements to Walmart or something and go off that. Maybe on Thursday I'll take a trip and see what I can find. Do you know what group number those batteries were?
Howdy,
Recently my MEP 003a batteries died. They are the original 6TL batteries from the Military. Date code of May 2010, they were dead when I got the generator. However I charged them up and used them for about 2 years at this point.
With them being dead now I need some replacements. I...
I bought my first MEP from Ft. Meade GL. It is a 1983 MEP 003a. Wasn't running when I got it. But it was 100 percent complete and tuned up in August 2011 according to the stencils all over it. Changed filters, cleaned fuel system, fresh oil and charged the 6TL batteries. 1 minute of glow plug...
You guys are going to kill me for bailing a second time...but I don't think I can attend this time. But it is for good reason! The $300 it would cost to do the trip I'm going to save instead, because I'm currently saving up to buy an M35. Well actually I'm saving for my Corvette, but once that...
I hear you there. I already tend to do those things in the various vehicles I drive. I have to ask however, why do you say that about the 5 Tons? Is it because of the air brakes and PS? 8 series or 9 series 5 tons?
Nice! I'm 19, 20 in May. I still have plenty of youth left haha I think I put it to good use.
You definitely made that boys day with the "army truck"! I can remember when I was that age nothing got me more excited than big machinery, especially military hardware. I guess that hasn't changed :-D
I had a similar disappearing BFS happen to me in a '47 Dodge 1.5 ton. Backed out of the barn, no brakes. I grabbed the parking brake and luckily it works really well. Drove right into the shop and filled MC. Never happened since, still check the MC every time now!
Will
I wish someone I knew had one, I would definitely need to take it for a test drive :driver:Maybe between now and then I'll find a local SS'er and we could meet up.
EWhytsell - That is a LOT of driving in one week. Taking a cruise in the Deuce is a good reward for all of those miles haha I...
