I dont think anyone specifically said that sulfur was added for lubrication purposes. Its presence allowed the fuel to be used as a lubricant. Removal of it necessitated the need to now ADD lubricant additives.

ULSD fuel due to low sulfur need to have lubricity added (thats what sulfur was for before). lubricity is critical in new direct injection High pressure fuel pump, not so much in older indirect injection diesels. Even minute reduction in the lubricity additives can and has caused high pressure...

Why would they replace just the meter on all these units? If they went though a rebuild and that warranted a new meter, im ok with that. In fact a rebuilt unit imo is better than a 15 year old unit that sat around collecting dust. Dry rot would render most rubber lines useless.

The ones with low hours went for 1000+. The higher hours were around 900, the really high hours were in the 600s and the basket cases went for 400s. So far two of mine from the same lot as yours only needed secondary fuel filters and orings. Two had good water separators. All had the bowls...

Quick update. After working on them today i can update this post a little bit. As i suspected, the "cranks but doesnt start" most of these gennies got as a description was due to draining of fuel. All had fuel filters missing from canister and o-rings were shot. Managed to get one canister...
