MSHA doesnt have anything to do with the rating of a diesel engine unless its in an underground mine. Max altitude is a given figure that states the engine will produce XX hp and XX ft lbs torque up to that altitude. Since we are talking a mechanical engine it is a ball park figure that will...
One thing I havnt seen mentioned is a word of CAUTION. Water or fluids being expelled from an open injector hole is under deadly force. We had a local contractors mechanic killed a few years ago from this very same thing. An old D8 was having head gasket issues, the machine had to be moved...
Actually, its red. I know the folks you bought this from. Belonged to a local heavy powerline contractor. there is another one right next to it that he drove home. But that one sold a while back just hasnt been picked up yet. When are you going to pick it up?
Again I may be accused of being biased, so be it. If its grade 8 hardware your after, Caterpillar has the best, bar none. And they arent that much more. The old saying you get what you pay for is so very true. plus they have a taller head, your wrench has more to bite on to.
RedDot model r-9727. 24 volt, available with heat option. has the evap and condensor in one unit. they work really good in the construction/mining business. tough as nails too. Or find the unit from a Cat 988B/F or 992C/D. I have one and thinking it will fit under passenger seat, heat and a/c in...
I think what your looking for is a PTO clutch assembly. With a hand operated clutch, outut shaft keyed or splined to accept whatever you have to drive. I would bet you have a S.A.E #2 flywheel and housing. Call Palmer Johnson Power systems. 1 866 983 1313. this is all these guys do, they have...
A man after my own heart for sure! I work for the local CAT dealer as a field mechanic. I wonder on your choice of filter though. The 1R1807 has the same rating, is atleast a 3rd smaller so it wouldnt be so tight. To my knowledge Cat dosnt offer an anti-drainback filter, all of em hang down. As...
I would question whether or not you actually have oil flow thru the lines, if the lines are cold, there is no oil flowing. Maybe I am missing something here?
Just a note of caution here. DO NOT use moly based grease for roller bearings. Moly is a solid and acts like an abrasive in a rolling or spinning application. It is only intended for use in turning(pins) or sliding movement. Use a good high-temp wheel bearing grease and save yourself some...
Nay. Caterpillar bought into this awhile back. The starters fail at a very high rate due to the fact to run the pump function it spins the starter with out pulling in the drive. This spins the internals faster than they are intended. You end up with a starter with its windings blown out. they...
Clean her up good and use some spray on graphite lube. It will be dry, wont attract crud and its flat black. We use this at work for pins and bores that wont be assmbled immediatley , last quite a while.
For the two with exposed threads. I would clean em up good, wire wheel etc. make sure there is no piece of thread or weld that will impede it from coming out. find a washer that will just fit over the stud sticking out and weld it to the stud, really focus the heat of the weld to the center. let...
