Well, isn't this great. I'm annoyed that someone always feels a need to regulate everything I do. This makes a crappy start to the day. At least it's Friday. aua

I've kinda been seriously looking for an M37 and yours looks exactly what I haven't seem many of. Most of 'em seem to have busted/missing tailgates, severely rusted beds, and cabs not worth restoring. Then there are the ones that already completely restored and more $ than I'm looking to...
My vote is on the fuel filter. It's probally leaking and letting in air or the fuel begins to drain back to the tank as it sits. At least that's what I have encountered. Good luck and don't give up!

I've gotten up to 70 mph or so and just didn't like the sound coming from the engine. And this is in a truck that started first turn of the key yesterday at well below freezing. I trust the engine, and have spares, but would rather keep it at 60 to keep it happy.
I guess I mostly don't...
I've encountered this a few times and it usually ended up being a worn bushing or motor mount. Rubber does deteriorate. Also, my 1009 had the entire underside caked with mud when I got it from GL and it took the good part of a day powerwashing followed by a nice regreasing, a few times...
Tanner is dead on. Flatheads and turbos don't go together. I believe there is/was a M37 with a Cummins for sale in the classifieds. That's about the only conversion I've seen around.

I carry a HMMWV scissor jack. They are plentiful and run fron $15-30. I used it last month when my front passenger tire decided to have a blowout. You will need a decent block of wood, as the akle is pretty far off the ground.

We use coffee cans. It really is fun to see how far they'll shoot, but not so fun when they nail my daily driver vehicle. In regards to the soot that can shoot out if you dont have a can, it will spray/splatter whatever is parked/standing to the right hand side. One time doing previews at Ft...
Excellent pictures!!!! We like those here. Also, that cluster of fuel cans in the background of the one picture look tempting. Not suggesting nabbing them or anything, actually suprised they're not secured. Good score!

The R442's I've seen in the last year have ranged $100-200 in working condition. I've picked up a couple of the bases for $10-20, have seen them for $75 NIB. The larger base $25-50. I know that some folks would love to get a ready to roll setup.

Couldn't agree with you more. I was actually advised against the purchase from a friend who had worked on them and bought it anyway. Everything has worked great on mine except for a tire blowout last weekend. (more on that later) It's just plain fun to drive as long as you're not going...
They are a vehicle systems diagnostic tester. Yes, they are available. I know someone who sells them, can get you a price and phone # if you would like. He gave me a demonstration of one last year. Kinda interesting I suppose.
