I did some work as a theater carpenter years ago (non-union). We called those things "tee-nuts". They are real handy for quick assembly/disassembly (things like theater sets and all).

You're in the right spot for your questions. But a good first step is scanning all the threads in the HMMWV forum, and then reading all the posts in those threads that might apply to you. It's kind of a school around here, and the teachers appreciate it...
Have you thought about any special lighting for behind all that? Like those UV running lights you see under some cars. You know something like this. You might not have any interest, but is that part of the plan at all?
That's a major project.
I'm wishing you'd shore up the chassis with a solid jack-stand or something.
You know how it is:
- 99.99% of the time making the bottle jack do double-duty as a jack stand works just fine.
But it's that 0.01% chance of trouble that makes a body antsy to see that...
