I am not an expert on the vins, but if you have a clear Iowa title and the vin on it matches the vin on the truck, better go with what it (the title) says. If you want to know more about the trucks history, try this...
SW, you mean you never heard of a 290 cummins factory installed in an M series truck ?

Welcome 09. Where are you in Northern Iowa? I am not far from Austin, Mn. You probably meant it has a 250 Cummins and there is a plate on the front lower right area of the engine. In front of the air compressor pump I believe.
Yep full hydro and well I was assuming it was a bobber with the 16.00's. Not the case. I bet that is a bunch of work to get a deuce to accomodate those.

How much can you get a running take out engine for in your area. I think it is a real bad sign that you aren't getting oil to the mechanical gauge and it stalls out after startup too. My guess is the crank bearings are damaged now.
Here is a generic answer to oil pressure gauge concerns that I cut and pasted from the last time I posted it.
When I have oil pressure gauge concerns, I like to get a new mechanical one (which are pretty inexpensive) and hook it up to wherever they read the oil pressure on the engine. That...
Welcome to the site and enjoy the truck! What kind of wheels are on it? hemtt or combat wheels? I got a m817 too, but haven't used it yet. It's a loooong story, but this is your story. Do you plan on using it around a farm or commercial use? It's all a matter of personal opinion, but I think...
At least they are a pretty basic air system. Comparing it to a big rig with its miles and miles of air line and many more valves, ect. If you go around with that soapy water you will find some I am sure. Fix and reduce leakage. You might wind up with the most airtight deuce around. There may not...
