Thanks gringeltaube, I had read that thread before, but couldn't see to find it.
Because they are ultra heavy duty double beadlock rims vs. standard rims and you can use runflates, which is nice when your spare weighs 300+pounds.
I have 6 brand new, never even mounted HEMTT rims, and I'm not...
It's been brought up before, but I haven't seen anyone do it yet. Has anyone welded deuce centers (whether cut-outs or made from plate steel) onto single 5 ton rims? The rims usually sell for $200-250 each, if you had some fab equipment you could (possibly) end up with massive beadlock rims...
My girlfriend works at a law firm dealing with auto liability cases, and on an almost weekly basis I see insurance companies leave the customer holding the bag after they "Disqualified' them after the fact (i.e. after the claim). They send you a full refund for you premium, and you then lose...
CARNAC,
Truck is from Camp Dodge IA NG.
VIN is listed as 0539-3804
Unfortunately I don't have more information. Hope you can do something with this and Thanks in advance.
I sent hard copies by priority, certified mail with return receipt. GL acknowledged the got it the very day they got it. Cost $10. but it was well worth it. Every morning I definitely open any priority or certified mail first, and I'm sure they do too and it gets a little extra attention...
Tire ratings deal with max loads and extreme climates. Your truck will never hit the max rating (it's not capable) and the max temps would only be hit in the desert. So do it at your own risk if you want, but for a deuce in Oregon I would think you are probably fine.
I've seen the military do it on deuces and the tires looked good and didn't touch.
From the FAQ on deuces section:
Stock NDT 900X20 (36 X 20)
Largest Tire on stock wheels 1100X20 (43 X 20)
If those numbers are correct that would increase top speed by about 10mph at max rpm. I'd like to do...
Didn't think of the voltage gauge. the 12v flashers and solenoids are fairly cheap, as most 12v stuff is. It is a pita, but probably not worst then building/mounting a alternator, a separate battery mount, buying an extra battery and running new wiring for the extra battery. 24v is good for...
What about getting a 12v starter (info and part number from someone on diablo thread) and some 12v bulbs and making the whole thing 12v? It would probably be the same cost (no third battery or battery cables needed) and no more concerns about expensive 24v bulbs, custom trainler lights etc...
I'm trying to figure out the model year of my truck. I know this has been covered many times (many, many times!!) but all the searches have links to older forums that no longer work, which seems to be a new, common problem. Anyway, can someone tell me or give me a good link to figure it out...
I've used these fittings a lot and heat definitely helps. VERY hot water or GENTLY use a heat gun and they slip right on. I installed 300+ fittings in one day and heat was the only think that got it done quickly. As with most things, Lube is also a big plus to getting things to work
Maybe, I'll have to look. It worked really well, cleared the hood and top nicely and could lift enought weight to lift the front end off the ground with no ill effects to the rear end/suspension, and that front end is super heavy!
