I have imported hmmwv's into Canada, and bought hmmwv's here in Canada and sold them back to folks in the USA. Nobody has ever had a problem importing them back from Canada or getting them registered. That being said all these trucks I speak of we're exported to Canada originally on clear US...
Hi Guys
I realize there is a parts wanted classified but I haven't had any luck posting there before so hopefully people interested in ARMOR will be able to help out, I need 5-20 spare track links for T-54 or T-55 Soviet style tanks, can be in any condition as they are just for display on the...
If the filters are clean and new you most likely have a restriction in the lines from the tank. Our FV432 would get fuel at the engine but just a trickle, turned out the bottom of the tanks were full of muck and crud and the two pipes that meet under the floor were almost totally blocked off at...
Here is my latest tale of importing a vehicle (tank) from overseas...I made the deal with the seller, great guy, very helpful team working for him, I had Paul Bennett do my ATF form 6, got through first time, only took 6 weeks. Had mike Lynch from Intermarket Freight Service handle the shipping...
You can import any armor built before 1956 with a form 6....but is this thing armored? If it is USA made and current military technology it is bound by ITAR, which doesn't mean it can't be imported but you will need State Department approval
This will be very difficult if the APC is any newer than 1945 vintage. In Canada you would need permission and licensing from the Controlled Goods Directorate to bring the vehicle into Canada, even temporarily
I would recommend Mike Lynch at Inter-market Freight Services for shipping and I have had great success with Paul Bennet for doing the ATF paperwork and obtaining import licenses.
I talked to Greg at the Littlefield auction, your right Dave, he does know his armor! I guess he was going over to give Karl Smith's guys a hand with their T54
The one nice thing I found in this thread is that even with different opinions, generally the mood is supportive, and in the end we are all pretty lucky to be able to pursue this hobby no matter what type of vehicle we have or how we go about restoring or modifying it
I see what your saying Frank, I guess we should clarify, one thing to restore to its original style or customize it like WG Tactical does with the vehicles he builds, which I have to say, love them or hate them, his work is amazing! (I'm in the love them camp on WG Tactical's builds by the way)...
In the end it is your vehicle and ultimately your choice...I don't think anyone can fault a guy for doing what he can on his own budget to enjoy his vehicle. And remember not all military vehicles remain stock or un modified their entire lives, we have an M50 Sherman that began life as a 105mm...
Thanks for all the kind words guys, in the pictures we hadn't had a chance to put the right hand fenders on yet, I will try to get some more pictures up in the next week or so
