I am unsure what full market value means. People bid on trucks. They bid against each other and drive prices up. That is not full market value. An off-road use only HMMWV is a big ATV and people should bid as such. But, many people have bid figuring they will convert their off-road use only...
You didn't read about any winches on M934 vehicles because none had winches! With that said, some of the LWB cargos had them...the M928 specifically. You could definitely mount a winch. I would recommend you stick with the "stock" M939 winch kit because it should mount up somewhat easily.
I opened this thread thinking "man, they really needed to talk with Cevon about his Huey, but, unfortunately, he's gone." Then, I realized that this WAS Cevon's thread and someone responded to it. He was a good guy and is missed. RIP, Cevon. For those who did not know him well, he would tell...
If anything, the older trucks will generally tend to be more simple to maintain. I think an M818 is a fine truck for a first. But, I would also suggest you look at smaller trucks unless you have your heart set on a big truck. M151A2s are really nice, although they are not as impressive as a 5...
I hope it works out with OVL. I am curious to hear if OVL will sell parts to civvies. My experience with similar things is that these companies won't. Many agree to sell only to the military or military contractors. There are CARC paint distributors, for example...their name escapes me right...
I should have clarified that CUCVFAN has the newer style crank up landing leg with handle...not the older fold down variety. I got one from him a while back and I am very happy.
Before you go through too much effort rebuilding it, contact CUCVFAN on this list. He has NOS landing legs for sale fairly cheaply. I believe they are in the classified section, or at least they were. Good luck!
I can say that, while it is possible that a military unit added the winch, it is not stock. I don't believe I've seen another CUCV that came out of the military with a winch, but I bet it may have happened! Nice straight looking truck. Regardless, if the winch install looks good and it works...
I don't believe this was common...it was not found in a large percentage of M1009s...but I've seen it before. I've also seen mounts for jerry cans, but again, I don't think it is too common.
Here are a few links I found. I just GOOGLED "UK military vehicle club." The first might be your best option...but do a search and see if others come up...I just did a quick search.
