You can go though all the folders and sub folders here of my documentation of my FDT build.
I pretty much reference everything whether I needed it or not. Maybe they'll help you understand better.
It's a MTV, but other than the numbers of tires, everything else is close to the same. The...
You are not going to be able to hang a 340lb tire off the front of the truck. You need to study a truck in person and not make comparisons between the LMTVs and the Steyrs in pictures. Once you've studied a truck, you'll determine it's not practical. Some things done on Steyrs and other Euro...
Simply put, a real pita. Where are you going to put the tire ? 340lbs, 46” dia x 16”.
The control panel is also for the cab tilt, suspension pulldown (not needed) and for the cab rear air shocks. And besides the air filter, the hydraulic air motor jack pump and reservoir is in the middle.
To...
I have a 6x6 Pinzgauer that needs to be transported from Houston Texas to Arcadia, Ca (east of Los Angeles)
Vechicle is 18' x 6' x 7'2" tall weight is approx 6800 lbs.

I don't know if the OP is locked into the FMTVs or open to looking around, but the Mercedes 1017 is available here also as the US military has used them and Mercedes has sold the 2x4 version commercially. I consider the ready availability of parts very important in an expedition vehicle.
As I said before, the early trucks are mechancial injection, no electronic except trans and the world class trans has a very good reputation, usually its a mechanic that thinks he smarter than the engineers when problems occur.
I don't know when the change was made from the 3116 to the 3126 (my...
If one was for sale here, you'd wouldn't be saving money, just the number of lines before the bottom line.
Very few times would a European MV sell for less than it cost for them to get it here. Usually, it is at a premium.
At this time, it would need to be a 1989 or older for most of the US for...
Completely different trucks. The FMTVs were made under license from Steyr. The cab is about the only thing in common with the Steyr, and only on the exterior
The only thing electronic in the early trucks was the trans.
If the LMTVs had a dataplate w/ GVW, they would require a cdl to drive, the...
The FMTVs have lock cylinders in them. A little hard to see here... guess Danny didn't mask off the cylinders before painting:roll:
No biggy, I don't have keys and locking an open cab is pointless:mrgreen:
TehTDK,
I need to check my storage containers more often :)
I found a new (but dirty) LVAD door complete with hardware and glass. I knew I had another door, just forgot how complete it was.
Now if I find a left hand door , I'd be set.
Like most AWD vehicles, the normal "hard surface" split is 30/70 front to rear, and offroad/ mode on is 50/50 for loose surfaces. You do not want it engaged on hard surfaces. You will damage parts.
Each of the buttons is a mode. I'm surprise the operator's manual doesn't have all this.
The early FMTV manuals are available on CD. When I bought mine, they were $15 plus shipping.
I'm too sure how useful it would be to you
Doghead, PDX is Portland's Airport code.
Gee, I did "IIRC" ;)
Also, the CTIS does not hold any pressure between checks. It is at atmospheric pressure and does an axle at a time.
So if you rip a CTIS line loose, the tires won't go flat. There is a schrader valve on each tire to fill them, if need be
Is your CTIS ecu the same on the Brazo as the FMTV ? It would be the same system, just want to be sure your 5 buttons are labeled the same.
It is a simple system and very good. It is made by Roadmaster.
The attached page explains the different modes ( buttons)
Most are self explanatory. In...
Thanks for the lead. I looked at their site and saw something similar, but still different. Some of the info I've gathered over the last few years is that Steyr licensed a US manufacturer to make the cabs (sheetmetal) for S/S ( I don't know the details), and many of the cab components were still...
I got so many pdfs listed, I need to be specific to which I need.
I am keeping an eye open for the handles in post#2. Actually any of the hardware that goes to the lock/latch mechanism for spares. If I had to, I could upgrade to the newer handle and make new connecting rods.
And like a...
The FMTVs were built under license from Steyr and were pretty much DOT compliant with the " anti-burst" type locks, so any slam type lock is out of the question.
Though it is possible that the handle could have been used on a Volvo, knowing how Steyr, SDP, Puch would usually contract with a...
With that manufacturer I found 2 likely lock models. Both used on big rigs. Check your dimension against yours. The 030-0850 is FMVSS approved
Unfortunately, I didn't see a replacement for the earlier trucks. But they would have used a handle readily available to Steyr in Austria.
You're welcome. I would highly expect your crate to be complete.
Last year I got a M1083 troop seat kit that had been partially assembled and not installed that was in the same type of crate and everything was there... and it had been shipped back from the Mid East before hitting GL.
