Somewhere along the line there is something wrong if the clutch componants are new and it grabs way up top. I have seen flywheels worn that will cause this. Did you measure the thickness of the flywheel? You can only resurface it so many times. As soon as the rivets start touching , you will...
It will probably start slipping before it finally goes south but I wouldn't wait that long. Not good for the flywheel or pressure plate. If you want to nurse it a bit, don't carry any heavy loads or tow anything heavier than a volkswagon.
When the freeplay is adjusted right and it still grabs up top, that's probably a worn disc. The pressure plate has to travel farther to engage. That is if there isn't any funny noises and everthing else feels normal.
As far as I know you have to make up your own brake lines to fit. I replaced every steel brake line on my GMC. Once I saw one bad one I figured I'd replace them all. I have a couple of different benders to do it. Neither of the two were over 40.00. When doing it try to remove as much of the old...
Keep a close eye on those steel brake lines. Looks like a few may be getting tired. Had some on my GMC that looked like that and moved it aside a little bit to paint and the line broke. If the outer surface starts to flake, it's only a matter of time before the line needs to be changed. Nice...
RE: HELP, vehicle won
Try pulling fuses one at a time with the ignition off to see if the gen and oil lights go out. If they go off with a certain fuse, I would check that circuit first. If you have a wiring diagram, you can probe with a meter to see where and if there is a short to power.
I have the original ones on my GMC that are functional but are adding a second set for signals and braking. Can never have too much lighting in the rear of a MV. Most people are on your butt anyway so extra lighting is a big help.
The rght way to see if you have oil pressure is to find the oil pressure sendind unit [your manual will tell you where it is] remove it and hook up a mechanical guage. That way there is no doubt about the performance of the oil pump or internals. If you have good pressure it's probably a bad...
RE: ARG!!!!If it ain
If you mean the oil pressure sending unit, you have to remember what ever oil pressure the oil pump is putting out is the same pressure at the sending unit.I have seen oil leaks bad enough at the sending unit to puke a couple of quarts in minutes. Not saying yours is that...
RE: Re: Jim Thorpe show
Gasoline and fuel costs are staggering.600.00 to Myrtle Beach and back to Connecticut towing an inclosed bike trailer with my pickup last year. It's getting to the point where flying is less expensive. Fuel costs will put a damper on my travels too this year.
RE: Re: RE: Smart advertising
I don't understand what the problem is.We all know what the rules are about GL. If you think their screwing us then why buy from them. Anyone that bids on something site unseen must know they could be setting themselves up to be screwed.I would never buy from GL...
RE: Re: RE: Freeze plug went into the block
Go to any parts store and get some mechanical fingers. It looks like a choke cable with three or four expandable claws on the end. Reach in and pull it to the hole and then grab it with long or angled needle nose plyers. Had that happen many times and...
It all depends on if you want a project or not. Most of the time you are better off getting something already done if it's done right. I have built many vehicles and it's almost always cheaper buying one finished. By the time you count parts and labor and what it takes to build a vehicle you...
