What gets me is the TPS controls the downshift, along with the programming in the TCM. So how is the TPS creating WOT without the shaft moving and at the same time the internal gov/linkage fails do do its job creating the same WOT condition as the TPS :eek: Or is the shaft actually moving.....

IIRC the 765 is just a heavy duty 700R4, for simplicity sake I will call them 4L60 which is one of the designations used for the 700R4 They are both mechanical with a throttle cable. It takes a $500 (pre covid price) output shaft and adapter to use in the HMMWV as the 4L60 is a lighter duty...

When you say it reads 230-240 do you mean all the time as when cold? or just when it is heated up going down the road?

In any case you should be able to shift into a gear with no synchronizers or working synchronizers while stationary as after short time the input shaft should stop and would not grind any gear, the fact that you grind the third gear while stationary shows you have a clutch that is not working...

Actually third having the synchronizers "burned out" may make perfect sense, I have no knowledge of the U99 but if it is like the 404 you would normally start out in third as 1-2 are low range, so over time as the previous owner drove it with a defective clutch they would naturally burn out the...
