If the turbo is a free "throw in", TAKE IT! Weather it's a C (whistler) or a D (quiet) model, it'll be nice to have the option to install it if you're so inclined. The C model is a bit more expensive but the D model isn't cheap either, so like I always say "If it's free, it's for me!".
Even if...
No fuses at all on the Deuce? Come on Warthog, didja forget the one under the cover for the lift pump on the fuel tank? :wreckerman893: Sorry, I couldn't resist!
You have a couple options at this point. Aside from total carb rebuild, get a can of carb dip, tear down the carb and dip the parts in the cleaner per the instructions on the can. One of our old tricks when we suspected a clogged orifice in a carb, (assuming the fuel pump is good, there's no...
I crawled under my deuce 2 days ago to see how tight the bolts are on the tie rod clamps and noticed I need a new pair of axle boots too. If the angle of the tie rod clamps weren't a few degrees different, I'd swear you climbed under my truck and took that last picture right down to the...
OK, silly question time. did we check the alignment? Next suggestion. Get yourself some good sturdy plastic zip ties and if you can manage it, sling a small digital camcorder (about $60 at Big Lots) up under the bumper in a good position to see across the front end components, start it...
You're right clinto, My bad! I was pretty tired when I cranked out that last reply.
13,030 wo/w and 13,530 w/w was what I meant to say. But I understand what you're getting at. Aside from the fact that I've wanted a bobber since I saw Ian Johnson build the one he did on Extreme 4X4, (General...
OK, Silly question: Why would he need 26,001+ GVWR tag when an M35A2 weighs 10,030lbs without a winch and 10,530lbs with the winch?
Anything with a GVWR of 26,001lbs would also require a CDL unless of course you live or drive in California where 3 axles might get you messed with by CHP...
Sounds like a pretty high pucker factor! Lucky you didn't pinch a hole in the driver's seat upholstery! Glad you and the truck are ok and no one got hurt! A flung chunk of cast iron from that drum could make a really expensive dent in a Mercedes! I think I'll be adding a detailed parking break...
It's good to know I'm not the only one who tried to dent the inside of the driver's door with my elbow! Now I don't feel so bad! On the bright side, I don't need no stinking gym membership!
:driver:
Well let's look at what we know. 1. Just filled fuel tank. 2. made it around the station and it died. Something tells me that station has water in it's holding tank and your poor truck got a fat dose. Maybe a hydrostatic issue damaged the injectors? I'm no diesel mechanic, but I'd open up the...
I'm with ya, "Make it right before you make it cool.". No sense in giving it a paint job if it's blowing oil or brake fluid all over it's self. Once you get the leaks and drips taken care of, a muffler isn't a bad idea. It beats having to wear muffs or earplugs while you're driving, but all in...
That's interesting! Lower EGTs with oil over pump diesel. Hey Don, do you have a pyrometer in your truck? If so, do you see any difference in EGT running ATF compared to diesel #2?
Now ya'll done got my curiosity up!
Since I joined SS, I've noticed there's two kinds of MV owners. Those that love the whistler and those that don't. After looking at the prices here and there, it seems those who love the whistler are the majority. Thankfully the C and D turbos are a straight swap!
I like to hit the clutch and...
Though I was not able to calculate my milage on my drive home with my 72 KJ M35A2, when I stopped to see an old buddy from my old neighborhood about 100 miles from home, we went through his garage and collected everything he had that could be poured in my tank. After mixing some gasoline with a...
Now that's impressive! It's difficult at best to concieve of an airplane that can get off the ground and fly while carrying enough weight to turn my deuce and a half into a big iron pancake!
Thanks again USSR for a fascinating, educational, and entertaining thread!
That's what I needed to know! I was looking through the index for "Alignment" when I should have been looking for "Toe-in".
Thanks Dave!
