Looks like the air compressor on my m35a2 took a dump. Was wondering how much of a PIA it is to change the pulley over to the new one, any special tools necessary? Figure a pulley puller and that is about it.
It might do good to show up and look for someone to talk with. You know anyone in DMV or State Police or local PD that can steer you to the right person? I have found phone calls or cold calls usually get a "I don't know", "No", etc... 2cents
Ships Captain, and yes, I was in the same place as an EIT at one point and time. I would say everyone was at one point! I could have gone either topside or on the bottom.
An experienced Engineer is good to have, but how do they get there? Most likely, just like you said, basics out of college...
An In-Frame to me is roll all bearings out, mic the rod bearing surfaces, plastiguage the mains and roll new bearings in on the mains and place new rod bearings. Even if the main bearings looked good, new bearings are placed.
Actually, the OTHER way around. Most (and I say MOST) EITs have NO clue as to what happens in the real world after school! I also see this in my everyday operations...
Yeah, You will be keeping it...too much time and effort to get rid of it:mrgreen:! Just keep it in the back 40 for :mrgreen:6 months or so and bring it 'home'. That's what I do with my BOSS, honey, I told you about that over a year ago...uh, it works sometimes...I only know if it works if Ms...

captain to newb deckhand: 'pointing up, you see that sky hook don't ya?'
captain to newb deckhand: 'I need some relative bearing grease, go see what the Engineroom has'
Newb deckhand shows up 2...
I've had 2 repairs done to the Line-X in the back of my 05GMC. You can't tell where the repairs were made and they are holding up fine for the past 3-4 years. The body shop I use sings praises to both Line-X and Rhino for repairs, that's why I went with the Line-X (closer to me) 2cents
I've always had to give it a good FAST yank. It will grind/clunk/and jerk the truck a little. If it is worse than this, you might want to check the fluids...
Edit, when I say a good fast yank, don't pull the shifter off. It is kinda hard to explain in writing how hard and fast to pull.
Every GM that I have owned gave a great BIG CLUNK when put into 4LO, If that makes you feel better, no matter what you do.
The backing up 10 feet has got me puzzled, unless you are going back to 2HI.
Do yourself a favour and have the drum turned if it looks bad. At the very least grab a couple (or more) brake clean cans and douse is good to get the oil off.
Have FUN!
Spinner I and Spinner II
Thanks for the link dmetalmiki, I went and looked over the setup they have. I used to use these on our main engines on big diesels and they worked fine for the application. Although I am impressed with the setup, I was looking for a more industrial setup, one with a...
