    1959 m139 Bridge truck

Just found a gas job wrecker and a M139 bridge truck for cheap. Which should I get? The wrecker is closer. Both need work! But they are cheap! Probably for scrap prices!

What kind of axle gear oil to use on 5 ton

Hey, Paul The TM and LO are not much help because I haven't seen anything that states if the oil is Synthetic or non-synthetic. The other members are just trying to help out with their experience they have. If you find a manual or LO are out of date. Maybe you should post which one members...

What kind of axle gear oil to use on 5 ton

Thanks for all the help. I am pretty sure that my axle gear oil is synthetic. I am going to take sample with me to the truck supply company to confirm! I will let everyone know how I make out.

What kind of axle gear oil to use on 5 ton

Yes JasonJC my axle gear oil looks like motor oil but it only has a little gear oil smell. I think it, must be synthetic. I hear that synthetic oils are much more expensive! I also hear that you can't switch back from synthetic oils. The questions are: (1)Is this synthetic gear oil in my...

    M939/A1/A2 ABS vs. Non-ABS Trucks

I hate when people compare stuff and the comparison is not very scientific. The videos are taken from different angles in both tests! taking a video from the side is the best way to judge speed. Why would you stand in front of a 5 ton going 45MPH unless you knew what it would do. Doesn't sound...

Leaking axle... and not the good kind

Paul, I had the same problem with my truck. I found out that everything was new, but someone damaged the inner seals putting them in. I bought a newer style from Boyce. They are heavy duty design and they have a dam on the inside. Just make sure you sand a taper on the edge to help get it...

What kind of axle gear oil to use on 5 ton

No! It is not cloudy. I was told that it maybe synthetic oil. I heard, that you don't want to mix synthetic oil with non synthetic oil. If it is synthetic oil can I just drain the axles and use civilian gear oil? I have the manuals for my truck and the LO. They list the Mil-spec oil but I am...

What kind of axle gear oil to use on 5 ton

5 ton hook lift system install

I have found a bunch of MK 18 trailers. They are not the MK 18A1 trailers with the hooklift, but the MK 18 trailers is a amazing too. The ones I found are almost unused. one in FLA and two in Michigan. They are going for around $4500. each. The is a deal considering they have two drive axles...

    5 ton lockout hubs

I could use a pair of hubs. I think there are about 20 of us waiting. I am not a wiz kid, but I can do the math! 20 sets at $1000. = $20,000. Seems like a nice product to build! when will we see them for sale?

818 now with turbo and pics.

There are two different crossover pipes that Cummins makes for turbos. One is raised to make room for a Intercooler the other is tight to the head. I am sure the NONE INTERCOOLER type will fit no problem! Jwaller you did a great job, by the way.

818 now with turbo and pics.

Nice score! but were is the intake manifold? The turbo intake is different. Air enters from the top on the turbo manifold and air enters from the side on none turbo intake manifolds. Post up pictures of your install and I will be interested to see how your M818 preforms with 16.00R20 tires and...

5 ton hook lift system install

I believe that it is the MK 18 trailer that has the self loading capacity. I seen a post by Snakehead. I will look into M812 and M945 too. I think these are a little harder to find, but more information is always better. Thanks guys!

5 ton hook lift system install

I have seen most of the posts on the HEMTT PLS system and the military use of the multi lift and hook lift. I would use one of those if I could find one at the right price! I will post up pictures and drawings during the build. I am going to keep it simple and light as possible.

I have ordered the original 5 ton seals, I am looking for the civilian/commercial gear oil seal that will work in these axles.

5 ton axle bearings and seals part# x-reference?

Has the military gone to a two piece inner oil seal like on commercial trucks yet. I would like to have the gear oil cool the bearings. My friend is helping me replace the inner seals. It seems silly to have just grease in the hubs.

5 ton hook lift system install

I bought my truck to use on my farm for general use and for recreation. I have a M813 with a winch and NTC 250. I have been looking for a dump body for my truck and found one on Tenn. But I don't think, a dump body is going to cut it any more. I am thinking of building a Hook lift for my M813...
