    2025 TX MV Rally

I'm going to attempt to make it this year with my MTVR but no promises. I believe the year just kicked off for MV demand. If I do I'll be offering anyone some NOS rifle racks for basically fuel money. I'll let them go cheap if anyone can use them. Lord knows I don't have enough M16/M249/240B to...

    AM General MTVR Prototype

Story #1: I was told a story related to this truck during the road test phase of the evaluation. The truck had a 200-ish mile preplanned route in Michigan that it had to complete under max GVWR while carrying three occupants: Driver (AMG employee), Army Evaluator, and 3rd Party Observer. Both...

    AM General MTVR Prototype

I've discussed this with a contact I know who's under the Oshkosh family umbrella. He did say the TAK-4 was their design and Pierce uses it frequently in Fire Truck applications. I wonder if the TAK-4 was a requirement for the MTVR platform so they were able/forced to use it? I mean.. they both...

    AM General MTVR Prototype

I hope to have the opportunity to do that. I've come into possession of some unique modern vehicles that people simply don't know exist. It makes me question what other oddities are out there as every production military vehicle had a prototype for testing or at least proof of concept.

    AM General MTVR Prototype

rofl There will be a "faceoff" for ugliest truck in the future. I know it gives the M35A3 a run for the money!

    5 ton ESP Prototype (M939/5TTR)

I made a separate thread about the MTVR made by AMG that is a big sister to the 5TTR we are discussing here. In order to keep clear channels of info you can read it here: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/am-general-mtvr-prototype.222821/#post-2602306

    AM General MTVR Prototype

I've located and acquired AMG's MTVR Truck #1. I've validated that this truck is indeed the one posted in the first post of this thread. I'm unaware of any others at this time. It's preserved and mostly intact due to the climate. I'll know finer details when it arrives at my motor pool. You can...

    AM General MTVR Prototype

***Please note: All information below is listed as factual as possible but may be changed as new info is discovered.*** AMG and Oshkosh have been rivals in the defense contract business for ages to no ones surprise. They were the "big two" that submitted multiple test trucks for the 5TTR and...

    AM General MTVR Prototype

For those who haven't been following the 5TTR/M939 ESP thread, it is intertwined with the development of the MTVR concept. I felt there's enough merit to have a separate thread in order to keep information organized as more is discovered. 5TTR/M929 ESP Tread...

    5 ton ESP Prototype (M939/5TTR)

I wish you had more photos because I know EXACTLY where that photo was taken. Unfortunately I believe this is the same truck due to proximity, people connections, unique headlight placement, and the 3 marker lights on the windshield. I have it on good authority that this was a later model and I...

    2011 M1167 Project

You better put that back in. It's structural by this point! rofl But, in all seriousness yes good catch and all too common on HMMWVs now days.

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

If they're needing bushings I replace the whole torsion rod/dog bone. It's more cost effective for me. As for the LMTVs they always get cab bushings, rear sway bar bushings (top and bottom), and A1R's get rear cab bushings too. This one I just painted had good rubber since it went through some...

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

I got distracted by an M817 and M35A3 that came in that needed triaging. Now the M1078A1R is finished.

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

This 07' M1078A1R just got the royal treatment with a 370 hp tune, ECO Hubs, much needed PMCS, and tomorrow a paint job. She will be a clean machine in 24 hours.

    ECO DIRECT DRIVE HUBS

Does anyone have the updated PPM to calibrate the A1/A1R trucks' speedometer? This is with the stock 3.90 gearing, 395 tire, and eco hub installed just to be clear.

    Should this thing be unplugged?

It should be plugged in otherwise the fan will operate constantly leading to slower acceleration, more wear on components, worse MPG, and other issues.

    5 ton ESP Prototype (M939/5TTR)

Correct. It was a 2.5 ton frame, M939 cab, Cat 3208 engine, and a generator between the engine and transmission. I don't know why I remember this stuff.. :jumpin: I know the military experimented with this idea again on a HMMWV that sold from GP some years back. Here's the link...

    Getting LMTV from Hawaii

This question gets asked fairly often and I have solid info for you to digest. I'll paste it here. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's a challenge to get a truck off the island but doable. If it starts, runs, and doesn't leak fluids you're in good...
