Hi Bijorn,
Couple of questions.
You mentioned that you would have prefered aluminum coil to copper. Is this because of the weight or the long term effects on the copper? I am thinking of getting stainless from a surplus metals place near me.
Did you ever settle on a particular valve for the...
Eyes left. That is my M54A2 5 Ton I bought from Jim up near Seattle.
Actually, I was the person who started the 5 Ton and up forum.
All they had before was Deuce'n halfs.
I drove it down from Seattle to Berkeley. Of course the largest thing I had ever driven
before was a CUCV. And although I...
Hi All,
I was at Tower Park today and saw what appeared to be an M1008
with all the right bumper stuff and side markers. The sun visors inside looked abit funky, but by in large it looked correct, that is until I took a double take at the bed.
It appeared to be about 2 feet shorter than mine...
Starter bracket
If you can't find one for the 24v geared starter, you can easily make one.
But make darn sure you do. All you need to do is bend some metal in a vice and drill two
or three holes. Don't remember exactly. Just make sure the metal is thick enough and strong enough.
The plus side for me is that I can jump start my M54A2 or my XM211, which I have had to do several times.
I bought the geared 24volt starter from a place in southern CA. and it starts up very quickly.
Those starter relays are cheap junk. AC delco farms them out to China. After taking several of them apart I decided
to end the problem once and for all. I used the base of the relay as a connector plug. Gutted the relay and soldered in four wires. Put a hole and a gromet in the shell, fed the...
A fellow SS guy has graciously volunteered to take it from GA to North Texas, Now all I need is someone to take it the rest of the way to Eureka Nevada.
I need to ship a heavy box from North Teas to Eureka Nevada and I would rather give the money to a fellow MVer. Shipping weight is aprox 1750...
Hey guys,
I need help. My gas gauge has been swinging all the way over to the
right, and although I get a thrill out of the thought that it might
actually be overflowing with fuel, I'm afraid I know better.
What is the most probable cause of this?

I was passed the following info.
Highway 101 CA at the Sonoma Marin county line a Truck
which is probably a Deuce or a 5 Ton and a Wrecker/crane truck
were sighted with a for sale sign on them.
This is all the info I have on this I'm afraid.

Believe you me, it has been touch and go several times already. This city makes Danang look like
a resort town. Of course I am refering to a time a while back....
Now you ask. Why didn't you come out and help me shuffle these seven wheels around in the scorching heat today? Tennessee you say, well I guess that is as good as any a reason.
If my poor decrepit brain still works a little, I believe I remember seeing XML on them.
I hope it is a lot cooler...
I live in Berkeley and would be very interested in getting some parts. In particular a complete cab and
maybe a winch. I don't have a lot of money left so be forwarned.
Yes they are 12 20's and they do fit on the 6 bolt rims. I just came back from where I had the tires stored, and to my surprise, they were all mounted on the 6 bolt rims ready to go. So I think I have that A disease......
What problems do the manufacturers say there will be or dp the just not...
