RE: Most places
As long as it is plated and insured, most municipalities will not bother you. The only problem you may run across is if your subdivision homeowner's association has any restrictions. If this is the case and you recieve a complaint, tell them you have a historic vehicle and go...
The hydraulic head does not have a "high pressure bypass" because it would not be practical or cost efficient. The hydraulic head has one piston per cylinder to pump a metered amount of fuel, based on fuel delivery adjustment and throttle postion, to a specific injector. A bypass system as you...
BTW, NAPA is my LAST choice for parts. They have a lot of parts, but they are NOT the cheapest source by any means for anything you want to buy, they are useually 50% or higher than a MV source! I only go to NAPA if I cannot find a part anyplace else - Shipping be damned! For example - I needed...
Hmmm - How about renting a container of liquid nitrogen and pouring it over the parts to be cleaned, then finishing up with a conventional process like a wire brush on an angle grinder? The liquid nitrogen would be definitely risky, don't even know how well it would work, but it IS a thought!
RE: Re: RE: Check valve for oil filters?
Recovery4x4 - your "couple of 4 or 5 second cranks before I turn the fuel on" are still turning the engine over dry, so I don't see much improvement there.
Jim - The oil accumulator COULD work, but it would take 4-5 quarts of oil to fill both filters...
Ryan - I've been considering that idea. Saturn has a 24V fuel pump rated at 5-7 GPM (pressure not stated) for about $50. All I'd need is a way to draw oil out of the sump (have a couple of thoughts on that also) and then pump the oil into the pipe drain plug on the oil filter base (which, BTW, I...
Yes, this is a major bother to me also. My Deuce takes about 15 seconds to build oil pressure on a cold start. There were a couple of threads in the past trying to figure out how to adapt a spin on filter with anti drain back to the Deuce filter housing, but all seemed to come to a dead end due...
Will - In tank fuel pump is working well, I replaced all three fuel filters, did not improve starting at all. As soon as I cranked up the fuel the first 1/6th turn (one flat of the adjusting nut) starting was markedly improved, with 1/3rd turn (two flats) the engine starts immediately without...
Bjorn - I upshift around 2000 RPM, downshift around 1500 RPM. Is this appropriate for conservative driving? I am hoping to keep this engine running until I am no longer able to drive the Deuce, which I hope is a couple more decades (I just turned 60 years young (I have 6, 8 and 10 year old sons...
Thanks, Jon. I get the point. But I think just a single reply would have been sufficient sufficient sufficient. I DO try to keep my foot out of the throttle, I just wonder how much $$ that smoke is costing me. I remember in the old days when diesel trucks spewed smoke like a battleship at all...
Now that I have your attention, I am actually wondering how exhaust smoke afffects fuel mileage. Here is my situation - when I first brought my Deuce home from the DRMO, the engine was hard starting, had all the balls of a neutered poodle (it would only get up to 2350 RPM in 5th on a level...
I think I have responded to and shipped sockets to everyone who contacted me. If I did NOT respond to your message, or you have NOT received your socket yet, please use the email link to contact me.
Nice looking truck. A set of 11:00-20s would really make it look studly though!
Ryan - I had the same problem. Go through the yellow pages under auto/truck repair and tire dealers. Explain to them you have BIG TRUCK tires, 9:00-20 on six hole Budd rims, same type of wheel as on a UPS delivery...
Looking really good. You are aware, of course, there are adjustable window stops on the bottom of the window mechanism which may improve your 3/4" out of square condition. They are identified as Item # 5 in TM 9-2320-361-20, pages 11-6 and 11-7.
I guess I should have stated the 12:00-20 tire for the M35 rim was a bias ply tire. Bummer, the Michelin 13:00R20 would make a great super single tire, but they want it on a 10" wide rim. It could probably be made to work on a stock 7.5" M35 rim though. 13.5" is probably as wide as you'd want to...
RE: Thanks guys
OK, here is my $0.02.
1. A stock M35 will work just fine with dual 11:00x20s bias ply tires in the rear. You WILL lose a little tire to bed clearance, so in extreme off road conditions you may end up with the tires rubbing the underside of the bed.
2. I doubt dual 11:00x20...
As for moving the mushroom up the stack, just go to the local auto parts store and buy/order two 4"x4" 90 degree bends and a length of 4" exhaust pipe. Lay it out in your mind before ordering parts as some will have to be 4"OD x 4"OD, some 4"OD x 4"ID, and the pipe will be 4"OD x 4"OD. FYI, the...
