I think I might have to pull the bed off the frame a few feet this spring. It is the only way I can think of to get to the front of the box to paint it. If any one has any ideas please let me know.
With the warm weather on New Years eve day I got a bit more done. I worked on the front pannels and on the back. The front will have pannels on the drivers side and the passenger side. The center is going to be for the craw through. While working on it I had to post poppy and the puppy on...
Ok guys, I got a bit more done on the deuce. A few hours here and there. I have been working on the back doors. I'll have more pics at the end of this week. The pannel on the drivers side is welded solid. The center area is going to be the every day door. The passenger side pannel is going...
Going to use it for storage, but not big enough for sleeping. Had to decide between cab clearance or sleeping area. Cab clearance won. It wll be able to sleep 6 as it is and 3 more will fit on the floor. Well maybe 1.5 on the floor. My one dog will take up about 1.5 spots.
Ok guys, made some progress. Fabrication is anything but fast with this. I have been working on the cabover section. The clearance between the bottom of the cabover and the roof of the cab at the highest point is 8.5". Plenty of room to allow the cab to articulate off road without hitting...
Welcome Scot, I live in Easton, south side. If you need help let me know. I love tinkering with the welder machine. I've been working on the m36a2 camper.
Clinton,
I've seen a few of your builds on e-bay. very nice work. I hope my rv conversion comes out half as nice as your trucks. I didn't take any offence to the extreme off road thing concidering my thread was extreme rv from m36 HA HA. I promise to take my rv off road.
Lets think outside the box guys. Having a gen. is great. I am confused with all the 3 phase and running parallel stuf. I love being able to run the house and weld with my toy. You can cool off the house with ac and still fix the bumper or work on the extreme rv with a welder/generator.
Orren, Not sure about the actual hours. Much of the time spent was with a beer in hand. I will say that custom fabrication takes much longer thatn most people think. I cut the container sides and top with a diablo circular saw blade. Can get them at Lowes or home cheapo. cuts like a knifew...
Thanks gimlis, With it being only me and Poppy working on it and ambition not being what it should, I am sure I will have plenty of time for pics. I am gong to try to find some of your stuff now.
clayt:smile:
Ok, got a few more pics. I finished the front frame and re-enforced the front corners. I welded the entire frame t the container. Both inside and outside will be welded and I pre heated the tubing since I used my mig. Next stpe is for me to make the frame for the back end and then I will...
Mike, The overall inside height as of now is 6' 7". With insulation overhead and some cushion on the floor I figure it to be about 6'4". I am going to run all the wiring on the wall to ceiling joint with accessable channel or conduit. I love modifying things so the more I have access to them...
I thought about the wieght issue coldwarrior. Your right, I ancored it down today with jersey wall barriers. Can't have it floating off . Ideas about the inside are still being tossed around. Basic layout is done. It will sleep 6 comfortably. More if it is between tight conditions...
Danger Ranger, I love the fact that you are looking out for me. The truth is welding everything will keep it very tight and leak proof. I will also put a seam sealer around the welds and the rest of the joints. If I were able to take the top off for other uses I wouldn't have an excuse to buy...
The container is on the actual side wall of the bed. The corners of the box will be reenforced and some of the weight will be transfered onto the floor of the bed using some stiffners. Hope to have this done this weeked. I will post some close-ups for you guys. I am going to also weld the...
