Warthog and I scouted the convoy route to find the best hamburgers and the coldest Dr. Peppers. Everything looks good. We tried out the offroad portion in the M1009 and it looks good, not too aggressive. Reportedly, we are going to have a pumpkin smashing competition with our trucks. You are not...
Ziggy-
Thanks for the intel. I am in the process of doing a trickle charge on the battery pack. When your batteries showed full voltage, but insufficient current, did they at least power the lights on the controller? Is there anyway to direct wire 12V into the plug to test the heater out...
1) Easy to source. They are used on M1076 PLS trailer and are heavier ply (18) than 395/85r20 tires. I usually have some.
2) You should be able to run these as duals on a bridge truck. There would not be enough clearance on a regular 5 ton.
No problem! I have explained it to customers many times. Most have a hard time grasping the fact that 15.5 is smaller than 14.00. Next time, I need to throw in a "tiny" 11R20 for real comparison!
Anyone familiar with the tent heaters made by www.hunterheater.com ? I have not had any luck in getting mine to operate. It only has 106 hours on the clock, but it might be DOA. I have tried to diagnose with the manual but can't get any lights on the controller. It looks to be very...
I get a lot of questions regarding tire sizes. Here is a comparison pic to show the difference between 16R20, 14R20, 15.50/80R20, all in the Michelin XL tread pattern. They measure about 52", 49" and 46", respectively. Any of these sizes will work as super singles on a 5 ton, with only the 15.5...
In extreme circumstances, I can say that 47" tires on a deuce will rub the underside of the bed. I've done it crossing a ravine in a deuce grossing a little over 30,000#. I expect 53" tires on a 5 ton under a similar scenario might yield the same results.
I saw that last week at the veteran's ceremony and man is it big. I think it was 8" but the trailer setup really got my attention. I'll get some pics on my next trip.
I have run all three tread types in that size. They are all great tires and a huge improvement over stock NDCC tires. Never really had any issues with any of them.
Rick, I've got HEMTT wheels recentered for Deuce bolt pattern. I didn't know that is what you wanted. I have them with or without tires. Give me a call and we can work something out.
Unfortunately, these trucks weren't designed for YOUR mission, they were designed for the Service. They operate a little differently and have different requirements than you do. I wouldn't call them "useless". With that said, some did come with lockers and you can certainly add them for your...
Sounds like you got a good buy on the trailers. I was told these were in a "remote" location and they would not be stacking them. Only "hook and go". I got 2 myself and will need to figure something out.
I would prefer to see the flag on the right front as well. Sometimes I put a small one on the right front bumper and then a large one off an antenna mast near the cab.
The local OKC chapter is meeting at the State Capitol at 0900 for a quick convoy over to the Veterans Day ceremony at 45th Infantry Museum. Event is from 1000 to 1100 with a group lunch to follow. Join us if you can!
