    1982 USMC Caterpillar D7G

Well, the D7G had 10 gallons of 15w/40 in the push arm. The tilt cylinder hydraulic hoses were shot. Chaffed totally through the wire braid. C&C rebuilt the tilt cylinder but that was not the real problem. The cab door seals were shot. The cab air system was full of rat poop, dead fire ants, and...

1978 D5b (before and after rehab)

I have a portfolio of pictures of my MV rehabs. I guess I need to move them to a share in the cloud for viewing.

1978 D5b (before and after rehab)

Actually, it came from the oil field I believe. A farmer bought it in the early 200x and it sat in the pasture for 15 years. No military origins. I came along and made a deal on it after starting it up. Olive is my favorite color and I decided to give it the retired military motif. I thought the...

1978 D5b (before and after rehab)

I have been so busy with truck and equipment rehab I have had no time to post my projects. Finally getting to a point where I can share some of the projects I have completed over the last 8 years. I use this my equipment in a small business so it is hard for me to stay current on Steel Soldiers...

    1982 USMC Caterpillar D7G

So, I took a leap of faith and bought this beast. Was it a good decision? I think so, but time will tell... If you are interested in the discussion then just ask. Was it 100% ready to go? No!!! Was it worth the price paid? Maybe, we will see... I am in the process of adding AC and some of my own...

    MV - Heavy Equipment Discussions?

I'm not sure where to post information or questions regarding heavy equipment like D7G. I would like to know if anyone else on SS owns, operated, or worked on the D7G? Maybe a MV Heavy Equipment Forum? Did the DOD ever add A/C to any heavy equipment?

    Caterpillar 3126B oil cooler problems

Thanks! Don't mean to get off topic here. I will followup on that AC thread. I have a RedDot evaporator and condenser ready to go. I just need the compressor mount, or build one myself. That kit on eBay is too pricey for me without knowing more about it and the installation thereof. That is more...

    Caterpillar 3126B oil cooler problems

There is so much to digest on SS. It's great! I just wish I had more time to read all the topics which are so helpful in solving maintenance and upgrade issues. I notice you have the AC compressor mounted. You also have a battery disconnect module on your generator. Is that correct? I want to...

    1083A1 Engine Cooling Issues

I'm kind of lost on replying or post new comments. It's been a long time since I have used SS. Been very busy over the past 6 years. I have a bunch of rebuilds and mods to share. Anyway, here are some pics of the parts I ordered to complete a 4 port valve replacement.

Ignore the extra attachments in my post.

Procedure for using spare tire(s) without CTIS hardware?

Ok, This is all new to me and I haven't even removed one of these combat rims yet. I have several tires out of round, one has a major flat spot. I have a bunch of 18-22.5 (20 ply) jumbos which have been great. They are old as hell but 95% tread on them. I'm off-road most of the time so they are...

Procedure for using spare tire(s) without CTIS hardware?

I already did that. I need to replace all of the tires though. Different rims without the CTIS control valves. I have new tires on alloy rims. Some might support the CTIS hardware but that I'm not sure about. Do I need to plug anything off on the wheel drum?

Procedure for using spare tire(s) without CTIS hardware?

I would like to switch out tires on my 1083. I have the CTIS controller cable unplugged because I want to run tires @70-80 lbs anyway. What do I need to do? Does CTIS only work with split rims? I have some tires on rims that have the control valve hole in the rim. I guess that is what the hole...

    1083A1 Engine Cooling Issues

Yeah, the radio cable was terminated into computer type (high-voltage) pull-apart shell. Then there was a set of wires labeled TL 50. I need to TM that and see what it is and where it goes. Other than those two pair, that's about it. I need to search the forum on how members have utilized unused...

    1083A1 Engine Cooling Issues

Yeah, 10/4 on that. I thought one additional valve expansion would be good but you have to build in multiple of 2 so I picked the 4 valve option. I'm going to replace the existing and go with two with the possibility of four. Here are the part numbers to complete that task. My cost was $154.00...

    1083A1 Engine Cooling Issues

10/4! I ordered the AM-3224 manifold which will allow me to cluster (4) valves together. I got all the supporting hardware and gasket parts to complete a 2-3-4 solenoid valve configuration. Got to go all new, plus room for expansion. Found two pair of cut wires labeled TL50. Got to look those up...
