    Drash/ HDT Fun

Not to throw shade on your HVAC techs, but I would file it under "maybe". It could get hooked up to a high vacuum pump for a couple days to dry it out, and there are ways to drain, flush and replace the oil. Whether that is worth it/important to you is a different issue. If it were mine, I...

They likely used a self piercing needle valve like the one below to tap into the line and extract the Freon safely. You can place the valve in under a minute.

    MEP-002 pump problem

I haven't met a well functioning diesel governor that I I could push around with a finger. Normally the centrifugal force in the governor is substantial to be able to adjust the fuel. I do agree with @Ray70 that the governor vibration in your video makes it look like governor is either stuck, or...

    MEP-002 pump problem

You also can get headless shoulder screws; https://www.mcmaster.com/products/shoulder-screws/?s=shoulder+screws Or there are also externally threaded dowel pins, aka a threaded on one end stud; https://www.mcmaster.com/products/dowel-pins/threaded-on-one-end-studs-5/ I'd vote for the latter...

    Drash/ HDT Fun

Have you tried Gunk-Off or graffiti remover first? FWIW: Gunk-Off removed a bunch of surface crud from my MEP, and didn't appear to touch the CARC underneath. A few minutes with a paper towel took some baked on adhesive, remind of Govplanet stickers, and a bunch of non-CARC spray paint...

I know nothing about the pin, but I have used Loctite 660 on problem keyways and pins in other applications. So, FWIW... https://next.henkel-adhesives.com/us/en/products/retaining-compounds/central-pdp.html/loctite-660/BP000000164196.html All the best, 2Pbfeet

MEP-802A - can this thing function with a 60' exhaust run?

You might want to do a little something where the pipe passes through the wall if you care about your dad's structure.

    76761 N1307 280 amp 28v,how to wire?For a 28v generator

Have you tried reaching out to Niehoff, or who, ever made your particular generator/alternator head? There are a couple of variations, and without photos, it is a little hard to tell. FWIW: this might help https://www.brushlessalternators.com/Documents/Ctrl_Hyperlink/TG88_uid9102021126222.pdf...

MEP-802A - can this thing function with a 60' exhaust run?

Personally, I would move the generator, and run wires for the distance. It is cheaper and less likely to cause issues with your house/outbuilding. If the goal is to hide it, I would hide it out back, and go from there. If you need ideas, look at moonshiners' tricks. All the best, 2Pbfeet

    MEP-1040 runs but no output

Long experience has taught me to watch the path often taken... Normally, I would think that button should be pressed infrequently at best. (Like never) Mainly, my suspicions would be up that whatever is wrong is something that kept getting overlooked, like an intermittently bad outlet, or...

Tips for fastening connectors and winding generator cables on reels?

Interesting point about not leaving the cable on a reel when powered up. I wasn't planning to, but I wouldn't want to find out the hard way. Is a "connex" the same thing as a conex box, aka shipping container? My cables are about 200lbs/ea on a lightweight spool, so not as heavy as yours, but...

Tips for fastening connectors and winding generator cables on reels?

Thanks! I will edit the first post. I am using 6ga type W portable cable, a heavier version of SEOOW portable cable. Given the photos that I have seen of deployed systems, the cables and connectors look similar, so I figured there are more than a few folks who have been down this path before...

Tips for fastening connectors and winding generator cables on reels?

For those not using their generators in permanent wiring hookups, how do you manage your cables? Any tips for good ways to fasten connectors to reels? For those of you deployed with generator experience who must have done this more than a few times, any tips from the field? Is there a TM that...

    Surge protector

I have never seen a surge protector on a generator. Common surge protectors don't start kicking in until plus or minus several hundred volts to ground. UL listed versions are rated with clamping voltages at 330, 400, 500, and 600V. They are really there to limit damage due to gross voltage...

    MEP-002A Engine Stop Solenoid

Well, I would be reluctant to do it unless it were an all out emergency. Diesels that get overfueled are prone to runaway and catastrophic failure. For that and a few other reasons, I would have a plan to shut yours down if the worst happens. All the best, 2Pbfeet
