    Seized my engine!

Did you put in a fresh engine oil filter and new oil? It's a tough little motor so let's keep some hope. We've seen a lot of tar, sticky oil, bitumen, whatever you want to call it, in the filter housing, page 184 TM 9-8024. The drain plug on the filter wasn't big enough to let the blobs out so...

    M923A2 SWIMMING pool

Are we invited? If so........ and your clay soils drain well, could you block the frame and keep the suspension from taking the load? You wouldn't need to do more than block it at its current stance to keep the weight off the springs. You obviously can't drain the water where the truck sits...

RAILROAD CROSSING SAFETY - Sheriff Officer Hit - could have been any of us.

Maybe someone else will remember this cartoon image. It was likely in the 70's, it wasn't the 60's but maybe into the early 80's, my older brother may have left a playboy magazine out. It could have been a popular science or popular mechanics but I seem to recall playboy/ penthouse. The cartoon...

    Saving one from scrap-needs adopted

Looks like the license plate says 05' so she might have worked not that long ago. Real groovy seeing the stick shift coming out of the floor. Thanks for sharing the pics on one of the most repurposed vehicles we know. It doesn't look like the G749 tractor version M221...which would be rare...

Canada - Prairies - (Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba)

Bringing the goods home We just had a multi fuel show up from the U.S., the 923 came up last winter, the 931 a few winters before that, the USMC 4x4 and Paaring Fort Indian Town Gap P-4 came up many years ago. I'll send you a PM with some contact info.

Sherman, Hellcat, Priest Wright 975-C4 Radial

Keep me in the loop. Here's some info from the war department on the Continental R975-C4 Tank Engine.https://archive.org/stream/TM9-1725-nsia/TM9-1725_djvu.txt

Sherman, Hellcat, Priest Wright 975-C4 Radial

I'll poke the Alberta Aviation Museum, Alberta Reynolds Museum and Buffalo Air. Buffalo's doing a youtube series on "Plane Savers" to prep a DC-3 for D-Day so you can often get to those guys through the comments section. The M18 used the 975 and was the fastest piece of armour until uncle Abe...

    Air pack rebuild issue

I'll bump this for you without a real answer and more eyes will see it. I bought air paks from sam winer that were supposed to be from the deuce but they weren't so let's get more info on your deuce air pak. Does the M36 run the short pak? Here are a few threads to add to the confusion...

    Towing M211 with tow bar

I had one of my old veteran buddies tow one recently without checking the manual. We're not sure if he cooked it yet but it was hot. I was never a 'read the manual' guy so without the previous boys coming forward with their stories, I might be a transmission burner too. The info in the manual...

    USAF Mobile Microwave Shelter

I'd love to see the shielding cross-section. Copper / nickel 'chicken mesh' wire is what we're finding for early RF shielding in structures. We've also seen documents on 2" lead sheets on a roof but we'd never lift a trailer if we did that. Real interested in seeing some manuals on this one...

    G749 preservation

Did you get your measurement yet? I'm away from the trucks so telling you they're 4 inches would be wrong. Using you as an excuse to go see the trucks is viable. Hidden gin poles on the back to load the quad would be handy!

    Aussie f3 tanker

Those round cabs drive me nuts so I poked around for pictures. That's just a great looking project so thanks for taking the time to share it. Here's a cool Aussie site with camo markings. http://anzacsteel.hobbyvista.com/othervehicles/aussiecamlw_1.htm The primary 'images' search leads to all...

Metal Magnets's M211 teardown and future rebuild.

The country is big and time is small I haven't been around as much as I'd like so I found a round place closer to you. It's in Alsask Saskatchewan and we're going to book a few weekends this year for visits. You still traveling with a troop? What's your mission with the trucks this year...

    M818 tractor

That's a big truck so an equally big welcome to this side of the pond. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IXM08irm5I I'll bet someone knows that info off the tip of their tongue but have you tried looking at the data plate info in the technical manuals...

    G749 preservation

Measure twice cut once early deuce lid I'd take a wild guess that we'll come up with some different measurements with all those sassy curves. The back of the cab sits on a rubber puck and two springs so depending on wear, we could be out a couple of inches. The point over the frame rail was...

    G749 preservation

I used the term 'M135 bed size' in the search and your thread is on top. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?176429-M135-Bed-measurements-and-pictures For your other question, what the what are you wanting to know? I'd start typing a bunch of guesses but its better to ask. Top of the...

    1952 XM211 Repower / Powertrain Swap

I think you can email pics to Eric but I see he hasn't been active for a while so we're doing a check on him. We have a dedicated section, both virtual and physical, for the American Civil Defence history we find that compliments the story up here. There's not much CD history left so even that...

    G506 Class 525 (G7133) restore

Are there layers of paint on the driveshaft too? Primer, green then is that red on top again or bottom primer? That beast was maintained. I can't remember a restore with a fuel tank that wasn't full of holes. That tank looks beautiful. Or are you using your trick camera again that hides all the...

    G506 Class 525 (G7133) restore

40's temp guage removal Some of it looks different then the 1948 gauges but there are similarities. We'll likely need to go through that same process so really helps to go through it once already. Thank you. This beast showed up as a stray in November. We usually let the neighbours and nature...

    1952 XM211 Repower / Powertrain Swap

It's that 50's technology where they decided to use the same axle on the front. Since it runs a different direction with the pumpkin facing in, they had to design the front drive in the TC to go 'backwards'. Flipping the front axle will let you run a modern TC where the front drive runs...
