G749 Transmissions
Are we still itchin' with the fishin' ambition for a transmission mission? I think I'd bring down the one with the bellhousing so it's heavier and more difficult to slide into your truck. We know that they're take-outs, won't know the condition until you take it apart.
New design early deuce hard top
It's such a logical, simple design, we would have been better off using something like that on all the hardtops we had. The boys eventually built racks over some of the tops but the roof usually saw a lot of damage. Lookin' good, can't wait to see that Detroit...
Thank you Bill, Lest We Never Forget.
When the shop van got pulled off the truck the picker's gauge said 4000lbs so it's heavy. Mine is real nice to sleep in and I give it up to visitors when they come visit. ;-)
I think we had about 12 MVPA units pull in for that show thanks to you guys...
I doubt that wood is desirable for something that is going to get beat, off-road, but if a guy doesn't have mad metal skills, it's an option.
My Dad caught me with a girl in the basement when I was 16 and he said, "Don't ever let me catch you down here with a girl again!" So I asked if I could...
Oil dillutant cold temperature
Not real sure about the M37 engine but up north we'd add gasoline to the Early Deuce, 302 engine oil to keep it fluid. It certainly doesn't say that it would "extend engine life" and is really designed for extreme weather conditions. Keep us posted on what happens...
WW11 Veteran
Back in 2012, I had the great honour of inviting my good friend and his Father, Peter, to our aviation museum for a static display. His Dad is a WW11 Veteran and I always hoped we could somehow tell his story. Peter is the man in blue chatting with the pilot of the B-17...
G749 Preservation
Had some Major developments at the G749 farm lately so let's start with the info that is important to all G749 Owners. We now have 4 Geese and a blurry furry.
EXHAUST MANIFOLDS
They tend to crack. One contributing factor could be the setting on the manifold flap just...
The camera you are using is remarkable. Great photos! What are you taking pictures with?
Is that a mating surface for the starter? Looks like it wasn't touching. My son ran my 1010 lots so we also experienced our adventures together too, we both learned a lot.
We broke one starter bolt on my...
With the 3 hot wires you'll have signal, brake and park/running lights. The light assemblies I've seen were grounded to the trailer frame through the bolts. Our trail tech had a ground stud welded up near the tongue and a black/ground wire running back to the plug.
Does that M101A3 have black...
Trailer wiring.
The new civi trucks I have been around all have the Pollak style connectors so it looks like it's exactly what you're doing.

FSN numbers
It's the first day of spring, I'd do just about anything for you today!
But..........They didn't give us a part number on the FSN. Here is the Ordnance Stock # G200 - 5342366 / The manufacturers part number YT-6806462
Man.....you ask me to do ONE job...
Parts missing and hard to come by
I'd love to hear the story about that truck's after service life. Looks like a better time than having a manure spreader on it. Lighter cab, open wheel racing, rad supports flipped for cutting wire...lol. Poor ol' girl!
Keep up the good work! You got me...
Oil Cooler Seals
This just keeps getting better, thank you! Found these in a package that probably came from Levy through Brian at one point. No markings on the seals. They're not a pliable rubber and more like a stiff plastic so I hope these ones will still be ok. Brian is such a great guy...
You picked a difficult truck to find. There is something like it up in the bush north of Edmonton but the guy put a P&H crane on the back and it's been sitting for decades. I'm certain it had the 6606 Continental under the hood. It would cost a lot of money to haul it across Canada. We need to...
This pin challenge reminded me of the ONE EYED mechanic that worked on my Deuce with me. He was using heat to try and get a pin out of the front of a loader waaaay back in the old days. The grease inside the pin must have reached a flash point and the heat softened the grease nipple. The grease...
That gives me a big smile so I'm thinking you must be very happy with it. The color looks good! Have you pulled the valve cover yet? I want to see under that skirt! We have some more valve cover gaskets ordered up from NAPA so the manufacturer knows there is a demand for them and should keep...
Are you using a translation website to help with your posts? If English isn't your first language then communicating will be a bit tougher but we're all big boys and can figure things out.
I'm not sure what you're asking. Can you clarify if you're looking for a project......or searching for...
Two years has passed and here is yet another video demonstrating the best way NOT to do things. It's only funny for the first 40 seconds then things get serious. The cameraman blows his task as soon as the window shatters so no gore is shown which makes this video perfect for family training...
Did a little search for HMMWV serial numbers and found this.... http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?154870-Anyone-Know-what-Serial-Number-AMGeneral-Assigned-to-the-First-Production-M998
