Well searls84 recovered his m1009 from being stolen thankfully with just having to put in a new ignition. So here are a few pics of it, these are prior to being stolen.
On my m35a2 I replaced the sender and the float with no change in accuracy. Every mv I have owned has been this way too. Maybe HMMWV's are different, but just expect to learn how the gauge reads not as it reads.
I personally would go ahead and make the trade. Trading a running truck from a non running truck is a good deal. Who can say what either is worth in 20 years. Just my personal opinion though

The way I have done it the best is with the top off the truck and laying it on a flat surface and flat foot stomping the dents out. The two done this way came out very nice.
