Another newbie inquiry.
I tried a search but I am not finding anything close that helped. I have a M998 and I would like to keep the brush guard on the front and the rear bumper and I am looking for winch mount for either the front or rear.
Might there be some off-the-shelf winch mount...
All good with the advice on this forum.
No way to get at it without taking off the dog house. Was not to bad with the AC underneth the radio shelf, I just had to remove the four bolts for the radio shelf, and then I was able to crack open the Dog House several inches without disturbing the AC...
Thank you for all the info folks. So I picked up a 3500 RPM black tach for just a bit over $100. I think I will try to make my own mount and if it looks like crap I can always buy something else later.
I wanted to find that sensor on the engine so I opened the hood and I believe I saw it way on...
Hi Folks - another newbie seeking more wisdom
I did a search and found lots of information on how people installed a tach on later Humvees with the 6.5 and alternators. But mine is a 6.2 and has a generator.
I will probably mount mine high like shown here:
I see that most of the...
I resurrect this old thread but will add what I did in-case it helps someone.
I got a NOCO GENIUS GEN5X2, 2-Bank, 10-Amp (5-Amp Per Bank) Fully-Automatic Smart Marine Charger and mounted it behind the front seat battery compartment and fished the leads through a convenient hole there into...
Another Newbie question.
I thought the lights I had on my M998 were fine, at least the turn signals, stop lights and headlights. The BOL were not working. So I took apart just the rears and I found the inside of the rear lights were about half way filled up with mud! Also, the lens assembly...
One thing I did not expect is most of the "surplus" parts suppliers really rip you off big time on shipping! For example, i needed a parking brake spring. $1.36 was ok. $18 for shipping! And it takes 2 weeks for that? :poop:
I have established a business in Vermont, and the paper work is in to the Vermont DMV to have the M998 to be registered to the business, with a Vermont address on the registration. My name and address will not be on the registration.
Sure, they can still cite me, arrest me, or impound the...
:goodjob: Same here but in Florida. I kind of knew what I was in for, but the arrogance and deception of the bureaucrats here were just disgusting. Here, it was not an act of law but a DMV "ruling" by unelected bureaucrats. They marked my out-of-state title as "invalid". I got a multi-page...
Hello,
Another newbie 92 M998 question.
I am trying to rig up a relay so that when I turn the ignition to run, I wanted to turn on the brake lights and turn signals without touching the light switch so I don't forget to turn them on.
For the turn signals, no problem, I found lead that Lead...
Registering in my home state of Florida - Total FAIL, where the FL DMV marked up the title I got from the seller as invalid due to bureaucrats running amuck - not FL law.
Registering in Vermont - win if you are patient. I am on the 6th week waiting for a plate.
Getting a clean Vermont Title -...
Another newbie question so please go easy on me. I did some searches and found some YouTubes, but I still need advice. '92 M998
I have probably done a hundred brake jobs but I never did one with inboard brakes. The pads look thin so I figure since it is 30 years old and I don't know what was...
I received a check in the mail from the DMV refunding the Title Fee I paid, and the Warranty Fee, whatever that is. So that confirms that they would not give me the title even though I requested it and I sent in the VIN verification form but from Florida. I don't blame them for not accepting and...
I just recently installed them a few weeks ago on my M998. Seem to be of decent quality.
Nice to be able to lock/unlock them from the inside as I live in da' hood and a locked door should delay any car jacker a few seconds so I can dispatch them with ease.
Holes matched what was drilled in the...
