Why not take it out, you have to anyway, take it apart and see if the high low shift fork and collar is broken or bad. Or if you have bearings so bad that some gear is climbing out of position. If what is bad turns out to be parts that are also in sprag transfer cases, I will have parts for...
Hey , in 1972, Chevy ran a ad on TV (yes they had TV in those days too) showing a Chevy pickup pulling a 747 airliner, about a hundred thousand pounds they said. My M543A2 will pull 55 tons on flat ground, low gear low range, no sweat. JT out
I had that duplicate account thing happen to me during the winter. I emailed them and told them I never filed a new account with them and I wanted to know how to track down who did it so I could pay them a visit and GL told me the matter was settled and there was no information available to me...
This is a very worthwhile thread in my opinion and I Thank You Dabtl and others with info like this. I have several air pac rebuild kits and secveral air pacs that need to be rebuilt, so keep it coming men, I need all the help I can get . JT out
I can bring manuals for this truck to the COMVEC show in Chester Connecticut on June 13th if you are coming. You can meet a lot of MV collectors and vendors here and learn a lot. John Tennis
The regulator you are talking about is the one mounted on the frame rail near the hole in the frame for the bulkhead connector to supply air to the torque valve in the drag link?
If so, it is already an aftermarket regulator valve, I have purchased them in the past for air-o-matics installed...
No kidding about cutting the back of the cab out. Memphis modifies trucks for a fire engine builder on Long Island, they extend the cab about 8 inches longer and it is a real nice modification. Might cost a lot but it works. JT

Anyone who wants to can come to my place and check out a military prototype split brake system for the deuce. It uses a suspended pedal from a 900 series truck and two pacs that look like M105 Trailer brake pacs. It was built at Romulus Army Depot, there were two trucks, now there is just the...
Yankee Deuce is at Aberdeen right now, check his truck out, there are very few any better looking, and he made a 385 mile trip one way with no unusual events at all. The peoplem who make the trip happen are either lucky, or in my opinion, the real men, cause they make their truck run right. JT out
Noah, I met you or your brother at Jim Thorpe with your Dad several years ago, I am here at Aberdeen, hope to see you on Friday, tomorrow. I am in P 1 &2, in the Red section. Way down back. I met a bunch of SS guys today, what a great bunch this is. John T out

You have a very complete set of instructions to read, you have a seller who should help you with basic questions like this. If you have no experience with front end/ steering parts service and replacement, I suggest you find a truck shop to install your new kit. John Tennis, Upstate New York.
The mustache spring keeps the shoes apart so they don't wear on the drum when the brake is off. I have seen them recently with out the holes cast in them for the pins that the spring goes on. They might be aftermarket and the copy cats forgot to copy everything. JT out
