What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

.... and this morning (tuesday 27may) was past-due time to take care of a couple things on the M817 First task: Connie says check for the fan bracket bolt/washer/spacer upgrade ... OK, the OMS shop beat me to it (y) Second task ; disable the cooling fan's time-delay relay per...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

spent memorial day (monday) moving composted cow & horse manure to someone's large garden and spreading it out.. 6 loads heaped to the top of the cab protector .. although very damp and packy, the stuff was lighter than expected Ground still too wet to get the loader into the pile thus...

Starting new thread for same old problem.....

It sure presents as a fuel restriction or a breakdown of spark, but without actually hearing the engine it's hard to nail it .. Everyone has covered the possibilities .. Something will pop up sometime (y)

    International I4 Tractor

reminds me of the Corps of Engineers data plates on a 40ft crane boom i had .. Each boom section had more data plates than a barrel full of monkeys !

    International I4 Tractor

nice ! the PTO is a rare plus on an IHC "industrial" .. The lack of drawbar stinks, as it may be difficult to find one (and its front mount and rear support) if you decide to install one.. W4's/I4's are not plentiful in tractor graveyards.. I'm 51% sure the setup from an H will not fit yours...

    International I4 Tractor

the plugs are 7/8" as you discovered , this is a throwback from IHC's 1920's-1930's tractors .. Oddly, their trucks are 13/16" back to at least the 1940's

    International I4 Tractor

1: No dipstick .. On yours you will find two thumb knobs on the R-side of the oil pan .. You crack the top petcock first.. If oil drips out you are good to go If no oil drips out the top petcock, you close it and then crack open the lower one . If it drips, your level is within the safe...

Starting new thread for same old problem.....

i feel your frustration, chasing a ghost isn't fun .. i hope in the end it's something simple that was overlooked , probably all of us have done it i've maintained 1970's dodge/plymouth products the last 50 years and one day 40 years ago my Trailduster had another no-fire .. For a spell all...

Starting new thread for same old problem.....

run it in the dark and watch the distributor cap (and wires) for spark jumping .. Wait,,, you said scratches or chips in the cap? Does this truck have a civilian-type distributor ? It's supposed to have a sealed metal distributor assy, and yeah, if it has the sealed one it's gonna be hard...

Starting new thread for same old problem.....

I had an XM211 many years ago but ran into the sputtering problem under load with a 1940s farm tractor i got at auction... Without gleaning thru this entire string, have you cleaned the air cleaner? .. I have seen where mice got inside those oil baths and they rot into muck and clog the...

    Curious old M49 fuel truck

The only M-series 6x6 gassers with a tach were the 5-tons and 10-tons .. I have never come across a M44-series 2-1/2T 6x6 gasser with a tachometer . None of the 1950's gas GMC's (M135, M211 etc) had a tach either . These gas deuces were built during an era where drivers were expected to have...

24v to 12v 7 blade for towing trailers

i don't blame you .. i am not gonna say one of my little 4T equipment trailers may or may not have had operational elec brakes for some time My cousin had a story of his 4T gooseneck being stopped by a local and the guy made him roll forward and use the manual control lever to lock up the...

24v to 12v 7 blade for towing trailers

1: as others said, omni-volt LED's are the way to go 2: As for the plug, i've been hauling commercial "18-wheeler" trailers with my M818's for a very long time... I made a simple adapter by taking a military plug/cord from a smashed M416 jeep trailer at a junkyard and put a 7-pin plug on the...
