1: Are the inside of the bulb sockets rusty, dirty, or have the typical white-powder corrosion? If not, I would take a meter measurement between a good ground source and each wire end-tip inside each bulb socket to see if you have the full 24V+ there (and also check it at the connectors...
somewhere along the line of 4 owners (3 of them gov't entities), all of the tools , spades, spreaderbar, etc were taken from my truck before it went out to bid .. The only things they didn't rob were the full sets of tire chains
Finally got 1st cut hay and new ditching done, beating the current spell of bad weather.. I forgot that you had posted pics of what you needed but this morning I grabbed some pics, don't know if they will help you but here goes
Looked at the gasser M51 (1962) and the (former gasser) M62 (1953) .. Both have clean frames, the red-lead primer is showing .. I cannot see frame stampings on either truck :???: ,, on either side
yep , but obviously not an available option in the military, nothing could ever be handy or easy..
Your hitch logic can be seen on pre-1960's farmall farm tractors, a drawpin-hitch was an available option to bolt readily to the steering post on narrow-fronts, or to a bracket for...
It is a M105 for sure, (possibly an A2 version) .. It would've come with 900x20 NDCC tires.. It is the correct S/A cargo trailer to use behind deuces as well as 5-tons .. Rated 1-1/2T off-road/on-road but the armor BN S4 section always stuffed 2T or so of misc crated or palleted cargo into a...
thanks.. i never did have the opportunity to picture all of them together, there's about a dozen more elsewhere .. they work (or sleep) at two locations 3 hours apart .. sometimes they swap locations but basically i have at least one of everything at each location , except dump trucks, there's...
you should be able to find 900x20 radials or 1000x20 radials with no problem , they will help considerably with the bounce.. 20" radials are still fairly common around here, especially on pre-1990's semitrailers which some also have all-season tread patterns
1: Others here pretty much have answers to your questions under control ..
2: There are the terms "lug centric" and "hub centric" , meaning, the rims rely on the lug nuts to keep them centered on a hub, versus a rim relying on a tight center hole that press-fits onto the hub flange to keep it...
how does the adapter you had mentioned also step down the input voltage? .. I was unaware there was such a thing, so, thanks for mentioning it .. Back when i was messing with these i didn't have any vehicle radio mounts, but I have a couple now that came with the trucks
I sure can collaborate your info .. In the early-mid 70's around here right before I enlisted the Jimmies could be seen lined up in droves at DRMO's as Guard units turned in the last of them. Several local highway depts and village depts had been already receiving G749's for several years via...
I learned in the 70's as a teen laying underneath a car stranded in a store parking lot during a snowstorm that we should also always test a rebuilt starter's function before installing it .. (y)
Luckily a NAPA was only a half-mile walk and i had my tool box in the trunk , but still ! ... I...
Yes there are people that have been doing D cells for a long time now.. The commo helper had also offered to make me a D-cell box that fit inside the radio battery case, but being i was using the pricks in military vehicles, well, no D's (or OEM batts) were wanted ;)
About 15 years ago I had a weird situation on a M52 where i was using it a couple days a week in winter thus i rarely disconnected its ground cable.. Went to start it one day and they were deader than dead so they got swapped out and all was fine.
I discovered one battery had shorted plates ...
about 20yrs ago i had a construction helper who claimed to have been in a company commo section ... He talked the talk and likely had been commo.. I had two PRC77's which worked fine except, of course, batteries were sometimes an issue.. He offered to build a vehicle power adapter (24 to...
I have a 45ft stepdeck haul to/from Bloomsburg (pa) two weekends from now, detouring into the berkshires on the return leg but am loaded both ways, sorry I have no room for your gennies :(
It would help others here if you indicate whether or not the site will load your gennies
1: I save all larger / heavier batteries (typically everything more than 700ca) and they go to a scrap yard.. Price ranges from twelve to twenty-five cents a pound here depending on the market . About 10yrs ago I was at a point where I had accumulated enough to fill a M100 jeep trailer and...
everyone has good suggestions and experience of what works for them ...
what works for me is simple... I keep mine hooked in series however the ground cable stays disconnected at all times except when i go to run the unit .. Have gone through 3 or 4 used lead-acid junkyard batteries...
