    Can I revisit wet stacking?

Our big Cats had their exhaust run through a low pressure fire tube boiler. Because they were always at 50% load, we never got and gooky deposits but we did get soot. We did an annual boiler inspection that included punching the tubes. Probably the closest I have ever got to hell while living.

    Can I revisit wet stacking?

Ray, I read your answer and said to myself, "Duh". I could actually go over 100% for a short time. I like the idea of shutting off the water heater so it's cold. Maybe it would be a good time to flush it so it's really cold. Like Matt said, 100% load is 100% load.

    Can I revisit wet stacking?

It is a non woven textile manufacturer. It takes polypropylene and polyester resin pellets and extrudes them into fibers. Then it's baled and carded into fabrics. Then they are usually coated and sold to companies to be used in everything from clothes to carpet. When I started there our normal...

    Can I revisit wet stacking?

That's one job I would not care for. I can imagine all the wonderful stuff that needed to be cleaned. I have done my fair share of nasty jobs. My department was called Plant Services. We gave the plant power, low and high pressure steam, chilled water, hot oil for production and compressed air...

    Can I revisit wet stacking?

Absolutely. Haven't had a long outage in a couple of years but I find myself kinda wanting one!

    Can I revisit wet stacking?

Good to know. I think it's safe to say that if I load bank this thing hard once a year I should be good to go. If I do get a prolonged power failure, it will run at near 100% within 24 hours because I'll switch on the breaker for the water heater and my wife will have done a load of laundry. I...

    Can I revisit wet stacking?

I am religious on maintenance. I haven't had any issues with mine with the exception of the drive belt between the engine and the generator head. Around 300 hours it shut down and the fault code wasn't helpful. I ended up pulling the set from the motorhome and found the drive belt shredded...

    Can I revisit wet stacking?

Thanks Guy. That's basically what I was wondering. How quickly these things build carbon deposits. Before the 802, I ran my house from the generator in my motorhome. 5500 watt gasoline Onan. 120 volt only. I kept records of run time. Last year it ran 17 hours. Mostly because I went to bed...

    Can I revisit wet stacking?

First, before I get to my question, let me tell you a bit about myself. I am a retired mechanic/stationary engineer. I retired from a large manufacturing company (1 million square feet). The company was founded and owned by a gentleman who was an officer on a carrier in the Navy. His dream was...

Introduction and a question about my MEP 802a

Thanks Guy. I wasn't worried about the temp as it held steady for an hour but reading as much as I can I found that the proper temp seems to be 180 I did see 190 and some 160 reading as well. So I take it there is no easy way at the innards of the switch. I'll work the Deoxit in as much as I...

Introduction and a question about my MEP 802a

I have a quick update and a question. After a lot of reading on this forum and a bit of internet sleuthing, I bought a Carter P74018 fuel pump. It's pretty much a plug and play. My next step is to replace S1 to the newer all metal one. I will post on the classified here to see if someone has one...

Introduction and a question about my MEP 802a

Thank you! I will let you know on the fittings. Thankfully, once the lift pump runs, it stays running. So glad I found this site! The only other thing on my list is to get a MkII or newer S1. I'll post here and see if someone has one after I get the fuel pump done.

Introduction and a question about my MEP 802a

Thanks for that. Saves me a ton of work! That means it's the pump. I will order the Carter pump tonight. You guys are awesome. By the way, I ran a 75 to 100% load test for an hour. Worked perfectly. Temps, oil pressure, voltage and frequency were right where they should be. After I...

Introduction and a question about my MEP 802a

I figured I would give a quick update. Before I did anything I disconnected and charged both batteries. While they were disconnected I removed S1 and sprayed it down with DeoxIT. Replaced it and reconnected the batteries. Turning S1 to Prime and I still got a 5 second delay. Next I...

Introduction and a question about my MEP 802a

Got it. Thanks Ray. I prefer soldering/heat shrink. I think I will post on the forum that I'm looking for an S1. $230+ for the 75902 switch can't get snuck past the wife. I'm sure someone will have the newer switch. Even if the pump and contact cleaning fixes my issue, I want a spare.

Nevermind. Found it. Electroswitch. Pricey bugger!

Introduction and a question about my MEP 802a

Just my luck! Thanks for the numbers. I'll finish my testing and determine what is causing my issue but I will replace both the S1 and the pump. It seems like the Airtex E8131 is a very common and inexpensive pump. The E8135 is a bit harder to find. I understand that the 8135 is more of a bolt...

Introduction and a question about my MEP 802a

Just had to figure out how to post the pictures. Here is a picture of the fuel pump as well as the S1 switch.

Introduction and a question about my MEP 802a

Will do Guy. Depending on weather, I'll pop the top cover off tomorrow or Wednesday. My luck, it will be the Mk1. I posted a picture of the transfer pump from my phone and it didn't go through. I'll get that sorted out today. I went through Safari instead of Tappatalk.

Thank you, Ray! Of course it is the square one. I will order a replacement today.
