Make sure your starting solenoid is retracting when you engage the starter. Pm sent.

Also during the process I found out that the original vacuum operated wipers had been swapped for electric at some point. Brilliant design on the hollow bolt/vacuum channel! Question for opinions: Better to have the vacuum operated wipers or electric?

The weather cooperated and I was able to get some things done. Removed the rearview mirrors, windshield, doors, rear fenders, troop seats and hood. In the process of getting under the dash to take off the windshield/vacuum tube for the wipers, I found the cowl vent has been bondoed over! 😳...

It's a hollow bolt. The little channel thing just slides in and out.

OK, that is a fitting for the windshield wiper vacuum line. Got it off.

All- The weather has cooperated today and it's warmish and I have sunshine. I'd like to remove the windshield today, but have no idea how to remove the pictured items. Do the simply spin off? Pics for reference

Use a meter set on amps and check peak amps during start.

If you decide to not remove it, look at the source of the issue. 3 solenoids fail... maybe your starting solenoid is amping it out?

I prefer stock.... PTO driven.... (Apologies for the threadjack... I'm just so stoked to have that stinking truck!!!!)

OK bud, click on this link: Carnacs Historic VIN thread. Your VIN is 094010742 based on your frame stamp (which BTW is one of the CLEANEST stamps I've ever seen) and you should be able to find your VIN which will give your trucks year.
