    Alternator changeout issues

And if anything is still wonky at that time I'll let you know, and as far as being honest, that's the only way I can be. I'm not **positive** (see what I did there?) that I grounded the hot, but thats honestly the only thing I can think that would have caused the issue I had. If it's wonky or...

    Alternator changeout issues

I'm going good be driving the truck for about an hour and a half tomorrow and I'll run the checks when I get home. That will put a good charge on them, I can check output voltages etc and go from there.

    Alternator changeout issues

Yes. The batteries were so low they only clicked when I tried to start.

    Alternator changeout issues

I figured out what happened with the guage. When I connected the alternator I accidentally grounded the hot on the casing. The PCBs were rebuilt over a month ago. The batteries were weak from me driving it to get it home when the old alternator crapped out. The battery solenoid didn't work...

    Alternator changeout issues

Ok... followup time... After calling and chatting with @74M35A2 to ensure I wasn't messing up, I disconnected both wires from the alternator and connected a jumper cable from the "hot" of the alternator to the top post of my starter, removing the PCBs and rest of the truck from the equation...

    Alternator changeout issues

I'll do that in the am. Too dark and cold to fool with it right now. So if that's the issue, I'll show proper voltage at the batteries and guage, correct?

    Alternator changeout issues

The only problem there is I took the diodes out when I rebuilt the PCB. I didn't have this issue before replacing the alternator. Hmm... if I had accidentally hooked up backward, it should be REALLY anxious really quickly, right? As I stated, I had a good ground from the ground lug on the...

    Alternator changeout issues

Ok- so I swapped to the civvy alternator for my 5 ton that is offered to us by @74M35A2 Installed correctly (I believe) but am having issues. I made sure when I installed the belt was tight, so that isn't the issue. With the truck running, I am showing 29vdc from the positive post of the...

    Pioneer rack mounting spot

You had a pic of your wheel chocks showing the rack, but without a lot of clarity on the mounting. Some pics would be GREATLY appreciated!

    Pioneer rack mounting spot

Thanks all. I've checked the TMs and they suggest the tools as BII to be stowed in the tool box on the side. I guess, as I've done many times already, I'm going to have to figure out a suitable place for it. I don't think the top of the tool box will work as I have my Jerry can there (and it's...

    Pioneer rack mounting spot

Or does it even go to a 5 ton???

    Pioneer rack mounting spot

All- I found this for sale and will be picking it up this week: My question: Where on a 5 ton would it be mounted? If not on a 5 ton itself, what about on a M105A2? Thanks!
