Nope. SINCGARS can be used with VIC-1, VIC-2, or VIC(VIS)-3 as well as a whole mess of different speakers. LS-671 and LS-454 are probably the most common.
That's exactly the idea. However, it does take a large blast to relieve an MRAP of it's running gear. Getting out of the kill zone was a design consideration, but they will deflect a blast at the expense of all the external components.
I can't imagine the deputies in the Caiman are the only deputies responding to the incident if said incident required an armored vehicle. I don't know the intricacies of all the MRAP variants, but it could also be a self-sealing tank. The fuel tank is probably a relatively insignificant...
From Korea? Shipping is going to be killer. I don't think it will fit in a flat rate box. :)
Or is it from the Korean War era? If it's a '53 that'd make it a very early one.
Either way, that's a very cool find.
I can't find the thread right now, but there is a member who did exactly what you want to do just a few months ago. He posted a detailed account of the process and his trip. I believe he picked up his 5 ton in Barstow, or maybe it was Sierra Vista. I think he posted his 5 ton for sale soon after...
I got tired of fighting my hood. I painted and installed one of BBQRODs hood support kits today. The kit is well designed and installation was simple. It came with a solid coating of primer and everything necessary for installation, he even included a pull down cable. I don't have any trouble...
I've read and heard that quite a few Trimpaks were purchased for use in the first gulf war because there weren't enough SLGRs available. That was before my time in the Army so I don't have first-hand knowledge, but I'll say Trimpaks are correct. Brooke at PRC-68 has a good write up. PRC-68.com
Very cool to see something different that still looks professional.
I'd like to see someone recreate Dual-texture camouflage or even UCP. TacticalTailor had a CVRT done up in a very classy UCP like scheme that I haven't seen since. TT's CVRT is done up in Multicam now and still looks good.
My hood has a handle on the front. To get it back down just clip a cord or something on the hood before you let it go up. BBQRod you nailed it with this one. I need this kit. PM sent.
You may have already checked for your state, but some states allow you a short time to transport a vehicle with just a title/bill of sale from the seller as long as you're insured.
Congrats on your M38A1! Looks pretty solid, are you going to make it original?
I've been thinking about starting a "what did you do to your Jeep today/this weekend?" thread.
