Also, firing a projectile firearm/DD or not from a vehicle versus a static position can mean the difference between a misdemeanor and a felony, or between a lower class and a more severe class of felony. Check your state laws.
USSR, pics 38 & 40 look like actual photos, but to my knowledge no full size Ratte was ever produced. Are they mock ups, or faked photos? 40 looks doctored, but 38 is hard to tell. Whats the story?
What about Navy gray? I think a bunch of MV's working around a marina would look good in some haze gray. The gray trucks would look good compared next to the blue truck, you'd still be sticking with the military paint schemes, you could put Admiral's names on them (instead of Army Generals on AF...
Security thing. The anchor point varies with the type of vehicle, and sometimes unit mods are done that will vary the location even further. The point is to keep the steering wheel immobilized or obstructed enough to prevent someone from driving it, while allowing authorized drivers to have it...
Gotta love tactical nukes. Davy Crockett is my favorite. That looks like the M28 102mm. 1.25 mi range.
Someone needs to make up a M38 with M28 restoration. That'd be a hit. Probably wouldnt be terribly difficult to fabricate a close facsimile, but I'll bet the original pieces of the M28/29...
That's a great looking truck! Aside from the missing parts it looks almost new. You've got a long drive ahead of you, good luck. I hope she runs as good as she looks.
I had a Chevy 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton pull start my 21,000 lbs M813. He was spinning the he!! out of his tires, and I'm not sure I've seen a pickup torqued quite like this one. But it worked!! Thank goodness for good samaritans that aren't afraid to work the sh*t out of a pickup.
I imagine an M880...
Did you call him? I've inquired about his trucks before and he's very open to just talking things over it seems. You can get a lot more information if you give a guy a call. Probably the next best thing to face to face.
Good luck, I really havent shopped for 939 trucks having just bought an...
We already know that Uncle doesn't care if he makes $30,000 back on that HMMWV he doesnt need anymore, or $3000 on a pile of scrap. The money is of little concern. The gov't is getting rid of this material because it's better to make a few bucks than it is to pay someone to haul it off for you...
Replicas too apparently. So if you painted your CJ-5 green and put some military markings on it, that would fall under their ridiculous ordinance? Terrible. I would move.
I'm not a 920 or 916 owner, but I've enjoyed reading about your 920 build, and about your recent 916. If I had the skill, time and space I'd build a 920 like that. You have a truck that's the envy of more than a few on the board so I think we'd like to read about tips born out of your lessons...
As ksm715 stated it's a SEE truck. Small emplacement excavator. Found in engineer units and still in active service. Very capable excavators, but slow and poorly balanced. Light/airborne infantry loved the SEEs in ABN engineer units, they made quick work of digging fighting positions.
About 2 weeks ago I insured my 5 ton through Progressive. I called USAA and they said they can't insure it themselves, but they referred me to Progressive. Progressive set me up on a commercial policy for $900/yr in MI. Both USAA and progressive said they cannot do an auto policy because of the...
Yup, but only with a 13.6mph tail-wind. :p
Between the vehicle TM, and FM 4-30.31 or it's predecessor, most of the old myths can easily be confirmed or dispelled.
I love hearing some of the old mil equipment myths... BDUs were fire-proof, Flak vests would stop a bayonet, etc.
Did the crew make it out?
Great work! I have to ask, how did that tire make it up there? Those tires are f'ing heavy.
All the burned out Strykers I've seen had lost their antennas. Melted I guess. I don't know about LAVIII's but I know Stykers have composite appliqué armor that tends to...
Government Liquidation's terrible customer service, the paperwork, and the coordination involved will keep the average comsumer away. This isn't the first time I've seen a government auction story in the mass media. First time I heard mention of DRMO was in Newsweek or US News magazine in about...
Burger, why is it not a good choice? Is it the load described? The speed? The distance involved? What do you suggest instead?
I am interested in the subject as well, considering I am a new 813 owner. I've given some thought to longer distance trips as well.
