I installed many of these and never gave it much thought. Getting the old ones out was always the hardest part. I would say you are good to go because I did mine 20 years ago and ran the M1009 over 100K after that. Sold it in 2018 and seen it going a few weeks back. You are a wise man replacing...
I have run them like this only 1 time. I hated it. It was spewing exhaust and residue out of the EGR ports. Thinking out loud. I would remove the glow plugs and crank it over with the nozzle nuts loose. Do this till the fuel is present and all the nozzles are wet. Tighten the nuts and install...
Today I started out like a rocket. I was outside getting my Honda lawn tractor back together and hit another snag. The engine is not producing electric to keep the battery charged. I will need to pull the engine and flywheel to get to that thingy under the flywheel. I see a wire is cut off or...
I knew you didn't have to drop the steering column. I am glad it all worked out for you. The dimmer switch is the problem 99% of the time if you have electric going into it.
It has 12 volt going in. Does it have it coming out. Does the switch work freely? Sometimes you can get them to work by repeatedly working the dimmer. That will help diagnose the issue. Of course without the patient in front of me for examination I am making a guess. Nothing more. Grounds and...
This is what you need. Autozone , NAPA. Nothing special about it. 1984 K5 Blazer or K30 pick up. Cars and trucks of the same era all used the same switch. Good Luck. Pay attention to the parts you remove on the upper column. This is a detailed repair and it must be done right to work correctly.
I had an exciting weekend. If it were NOT for unexpected setbacks I could get a lot of work done. Last week I had Honda clutch problems. Not sure to complain or laugh. But I owned and maintained this equipment for 30 years. It runs perfect but now the inner bearings and attachments are showing...
I use gaskets and the Right Stuff on the valve covers. Just beware when tightening them not to smash the gaskets. Looks Great and you could never get someone else to do that nice of work. Keep going. I take a long time also when I am doing rebuilds as I think out every move and plan on being as...
Another thing you can do is pull the cable out of the tubing and grease the entire length of the cable with cable and chain lubricant. They make speedo cable lube also. But you can pull it out from the topside and replace it the same way. Good Luck.
On the tailgate there are 2 heavy steel guides built into the tailgate jamb. Using a large adjustable wrench bend the heavy metal guides in the direction you need to move the gate as it closes. The design keeps the gate aligned and guides it back into alignment with the body each time you open...
I think that the neutral safety switch at the bottom of the steering column on the CUCV operates the B/U lamps only. The key only works in the neutral and park position. I think that is controlled by the rod on the steering column itself. I know that the only wires that run to the switch are B/U...
Get the Boyce frame. Much less work. I think the price is fair for a clean rust-free frame that is a direct fit. The 1978 frame for the same price. No. Not a good deal. Too much other work to do. Good Luck. Like I mentioned. It will be an easy job with the CUCV frame.
At this point I think it needs to be located. Also moisture could be cracked heads or bad head gaskets. Impossible to know. But wise money would find that pin and remove the heads. There is a chain that could conceal the pin and I would not be comfortable knowing it is in that engine somewhere...
Sometimes you have to take the old parts along for comparison. Computer wizards that never worked on vehicle are working at selling parts these days. Good Luck. I think you have this.
