Any Napa can have them in a day for $60 I think it was. At least thats were I got mine.

I did this on a car, it would walk all over the road with every little bump and crack.

I would try and find a way to get it working also, its a pain having to work the winch from inside the truck, be nice to have some levers on the outside.. of course now you need locking brakes like a wrecker and the cable snapping could kill you... hmm maybe nevermind.

Because of the belt not being able to turn the water pump to keep it cool if the compressor is froze up. I guess there is always the alternator belt. Can't remember how they are routed. OK I had to verify, I thought the compressor belt went around the water pump. nope

I agree I don't understand the concern about the compressor unless its locked up and can't turn the water pump.. If his brakes are locked he needs to be looking else where or he's gonna wait 5 days for parts that STILL won't fix it. I wished I live within a few hours, dang that sucks.
