New Young Member and have many questions

M813 5 ton owner here. Factoring the cost of daily-driving your 5 ton is not necessarily only about fuel. As many of the experienced members can tell you, there is a lot that goes in to keeping your garbage green running smoothly. I've done nearly two grand alone this year in various...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Thanks! I've still got a little more to do, but it just had an interior repaint earlier in the year.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Installed a new tachograph because the old one squeaked like crazy. Also, rebled the brakes to get rid of an air pocket.

It's almost as much fun as the shuffle to change drain pans mid stream.

I think I need an adult after reading that. Yes MWMULES, that was me. I'm surprised you didn't get dripped on by my weeping Pinion seal. The M813 marked it's territory the whole way home.

Thank you guys for an awesome first show! Howard, you're not bad for a Scottish Italian. Also, for posterity. Edit: the orientation of the picture is relative to [redacted]'s and [Redacted]'s BAC at the time the incident took place.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Full seal and bearing service on the rear axles in preperation for the haul to Findlay. pressure washed the drums clean of caked on gear oil. Apparently the last military mechanic didn't think a seal in the keyway was necessary. Edit: not sure why those pictures posted sideways, just pretend...

    M813 steering clunk

So, long story short, I had the steering propeller shaft and steering column out of the truck. Upon reassembly, when steering left or right, there is an audible clunk/pop from the area of the steering gearbox. When observed from the outside, a slight movement of the steering gearbox was seen. I...

LOUD air leak under dash M931A2
