driving deuce in cold with no defrost.

Our M35A2 has a heater, and the defroster works great, once the engine is warm enough. Our XM817 does not. So, I carry an ice scraper (for the inside and outside) and use defogging gel. It works pretty well, but not as well as a defroster.

    Yet another transmission replacement thread!

It's just like a pickup truck, just much bigger and heavier. 1. I used an engine hoist through the passenger door method, but a bar through the open windshield and back window will work. I wouldn't do it across the doors, it might be too much weight. Honestly, I don't know. 2. The clutch and...

Newbie to SS and MV, M35A2

Welcome from Eastern Kentucky. A winch, a hard top, decent looking tires and racks/troop seats, and a good looking truck. If it is as solid as it looks, you are off to a good start.

    Deuce workout

I got ours to squat about 3-4 inches yesterday. I was pulling a house trailer for a friend's grandfather. He had torn off everything behind the axles, so there was no counter-balance and all the weight was on the tongue. He cut away part of the hitch so it would fit onto the pintle. The biggest...

Oh man! Tiny has gone "postal" on us.

Installing a main switch with key

I've seen posts of people here that have. Our deuce has a main batt disconnect under the passenger seat. I've been thinking about replacing it with a keyed switch from something like a caterpillar or other heavy equipment. I like the idea better than just a lock on the fuel cut-off, because...

    Deuce Identification Question

Here are pics of the air tank drain on an XM817, and an M35A2. I have seen a kit to move the valves on the M35A2 to the outside of the mud flap, but I don't remember where. I think it would be easy to modify to make it easier to get to, with parts from the hardware store. To answer your...

Official 2010 SS Ga Rally Info thread

What a great thread hijack, huh? The one question that I don't remember seeing here is: What about the transportation manager that let someone with a DUI and restricted license drive a school bus? Is he/she still employed? The rules are clear: If you drive a school bus in any state, you will...

    GL sucks again!

I don't think you buy too much. There is still room in the storage area.

    That is very cool.

International Title Service --- A+ SERVICE!

There are a few, but many of them, such as Broadway Title Service, will not title MVs.

Deuce Tarp & Bows Move Forward?

I've never seen one with the cargo cover rolled up to the front. I've just seen them with the hardware stored there. Our XM817 has the same storage slots, neither of our M35A2s have them.

    wieght of dump unit

That's probably a pretty good guess. I can't remember what TM it was, but I remember reading the weight of an M809 series truck chassis is around 19,000# Wo/W. Our XM817 is just over 23,000# Wo/W. That would be the same 4,000 you are coming up with. The dump apparatus on the M51A2 is...

    Paint by numbers

We have an XM817 that was brush painted, and 2 M35a2's and 2 M107's that were sprayed. The spray looks a whole lot better. Sprayed with a gun looks best, but the rattle cans can look pretty good too.

International Title Service --- A+ SERVICE!

I know this will cost you more money, but perhaps it's time to have an attorney send them a letter explaining they will owe you your money back, plus damages, if they don't get you either a title, or your money and paper work back. Just a suggestion.

    Hydraulic Head leaking need advice!

It looks like a lot, for such a small leak, but don't underestimate the fuel pressure in the HH. Ours did not leak a drop, at idle, but when revved it sprayed a lot of fuel. I used degreaser and a pressure washer on the undercarriage to help find the leak. I drove it one mile down the road and...

    Hydraulic Head leaking need advice!

No, I couldn't tell by looking at it. In fact, I still wasn't sure until I put the defective screw into the second truck. When I started it, it leaked.
