Have you checked the B/O light switch to make sure you didn't bump it when getting your food? That's the first place I look when I have light problems.

The old lights look cool until it's dark and raining and someone rear ends you at speed because they didn't see you. Ask me how I know. All mine now have the composites.

If you are referring to the thin strip of metal the wraps around the wood. It keeps the wood from getting eaten up from vibration in the metal pocket going down the road. A picture would really help.
