    GMMVC Vermont Rally

If I have the funds for fuel I may take a ride down for a day. I'll have to go hit up some used motor oil sources. Jim

I am trying to find a way to get more cab space out of mu deuce.

Thats about what I was picturing. Yes, you can get walk-throughs that size. They all have the bed installed about a foot and a half off the floor, but they can be removed. You can also adjust the floor height if the sleeper is too tall. Usually just drill out all the rivets, adjust the floor...

I am trying to find a way to get more cab space out of mu deuce.

As someone previously mentioned, the bed in the sleepers can be removed, leaving a large empty space all the way to the floor. Then install a fold-down bed/seat, or even just seats. For that matter, those sleepers have doors on at least one side, sometimes two. You could put ONE seat in the...

    12 volt radios in 24 volt m35a2

I did what Irv said, and ended up just tapping one battery for my few low-draw 12v items. No two batteries are exactly alike, and drawing under 10 amps from one isn't going to cause any issues at all. On my trip I used a Sirius radio, charged my MP3 player, powered my GPS and charged my cell...

What is the best engine to have in a 76 deuce?

:ditto: Put a little heat to those nuts on top of the studs at least mine are studs with nuts, not bolts) then remove the nuts. Get some new gaskets, O-rings, whatever these use, remove the cooler, clean the bolt threads and run a tap through the nuts. Reassemble and most likely, enjoy your...

how to turn up fuel...in pictures?

Well I had a chance to wrench on the truck some today. I turned the fuel screw 1 turn, test drove and was careful to watch smoke. No change from where it was. Turned it 1 more full turn, very small change. I'm able to come up my hill in 4th gear now, and it only slows down a few MPH on the...

    'New' GL policy...

rofl Haven't been buying long? Most of these vehicles have been driven by people who don't give a crap about them. They are 20-40 years old, and many are part's vehicles or seen some hard use. Its pretty rare to get a real gem. I got lucky with my Kentucky truck. But I paid a lot more for my NJ...

    'New' GL policy...

$3500-$500 for a Deuce on GL??? What have you been smoking? Maybe an A3 in really nice condition! If you reread my post, you'll see I paid just about $1000 last fall for the very nice A2 I bought, and most in that lot sold for the same. In fact, most A2s sell for around $1000-$1500, maybe closer...

    'New' GL policy...

Well to touch on a few of your points: Prices: From what I have seen, a typical half-decent Deuce on GSA is in the neighborhood of $4k-$6k, which is basically average to high market value. If you buy a decent Deuce through GL, you got ripped off if you paid over $1500 (such as i did when I paid...

    Deuce camper question

Sounds like the ultimate all terrain motor home! I had a fun time drilling out/grinding off all the rivets to get those rear panels off. The plan calls for a fold up ramp/door with a small ATV winch to raise and lower it. I can't wait to see your body set up on the Deuce chassis!!!!!!! Jim

    Axle Vent Anatomy

To add in another suggestion about venting...I saw the guy in that thread who asked about wanting to pressurize the system. that is something I did on one of my old Samurais. I tied all of the vents together, then tapped into the exhaust to get a very small amount of pressure. The theory behind...

    Deuce camper question

Hey, just like mine! I had the same rear doors before I removed the rear wall. http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd315/nhdiesel/Camper/Hpim0281.jpg http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd315/nhdiesel/Camper/Hpim0273.jpg Mine would be for long distance hauling though, so it was getting built...

    'New' GL policy...

Hey, I hate dealing with GL as much, or more, than the next guy. But keep a few things in mind. They are a huge organization which, although private, is essentially tied to the govt. Good luck going up against them and actually getting anywhere. Next, keep in mind that the very reason we manage...

    Axle Vent Anatomy

Those spring-style vent caps are garbage, they always act up. They are similar to what used to come on many Toyota and Suzuki 4x4s. Unless you want to keep the truck original, you are better off replacing the cap with a barbed fitting and run a hose up high above the highest possible water...

    'New' GL policy...

Not always. The two Deuces I bought last fall were my #5 and #6 purchases through GL, all requiring EUCs. One truck took around 60 days, the other roughly 45. USUALLY repeat buyers are quicker, but not always. Jim

how to turn up fuel...in pictures?

Drill hole to proper size, run pipe tap down to proper depth, install pyro. Most pyro sensors are 1/8-27 NPT. Tap drill size is .332", or letter "Q" bit. Depth of thread: Official technique to get proper depth is to run the tap in 12 turns. I just go by eye though, and tap until the threads...

    Oh my god.....wife posted this

I have been blessed. My wife has no problem with "green iron", and has even driven the Deuce...and enjoyed it! She will be going to the Maine rally with me. The limit is finances, otherwise she would let me keep the Deuce. She still hasn't come 100% to the "dark side" though, as I still get...

    Towing a deuce

500 miles, no problem. But I would NEVER use a towbar unless the tow vehicle is as heavy or heavier than the towed vehicle. Even then towbars can get you in trouble, and you should use extreme caution. Some safety nazis would have given us a hard time with that load, but the trailer is rated...
