The one I care about most is the one in Kentucky, event 4678, which is at 28 days. But to be honest, at this point I would almost give up both trucks. I bought them as a small investment, while I was still working, to help keep our heads above water while my wife is in school. But now I'm not...
Yea, I pretty much figured you were just referring to the current system, the way it is.
I just got off live chat with Heidi, and she had some interesting numbers. According to their records, the EUC I submitted way back on Aug. 27th for 4600 has only been at BC for 16 days?!?!?! The one I sent...
Actually I very much do expect it to be in the same condition as when it was listed for auction. Anything less, and someone is at fault, and is guilty of fraud somewhere along the line. Whether its the military themselves, GL, or other buyers. No matter what, the selling party is responsible for...
It seems to me that someone, somewhere, doesn't seem to want surplus items to be sold, and the guilty party(s) seem to be the U.S. Govt. themselves. If the plan was really to sell surplus items and use the funds toward the military's operating budget, they would want to sell as much property for...
With a Detroit, expect big, heavy, loud, and sucks a lot of fuel. For info on weights and HP numbers, check THIS PAGE.
I'd suggest a 5.9 Cummins for a nice usable engine. More power and torque than any of the multis, still a fairly small engine compared to many of the ones mentioned in other...
:ditto:
I'm waiting for two, and the one thats been the longest I really don't even care about all that much. Its a truck I paid a bit too much for out of excitement and most likely isn't in the condition I'm hoping for. If they cancel that one I won't lose any sleep...just GET IT DONE one way...
They fold back. I don't know if an adjustable will fit in where the nut is. I can try to remember to check the size of the nut in the morning so you can bring a wrench.

Yea, good luck getting hold of Daniel. I left numerous phone messages and e-mails for him when I was dealing with the Export Letter. No answer. Only after I resent everything through Heidi did I get any response, a confirmation that he received my paperwork.

Actually the stick-on heaters really stay in place. Mines been on my Cummins Durango for 2 years and hasn't even started to peel yet. The key is CLEAN PAN. I use a whiz-wheel on my die grinder to scuff it down to bare metal, then stick the heater on. The kits I use come with RTV to put around...
I thought the same thing when I went to pull my ring off (wanted to check it out for use on another project). I pulled the cotter pin, put the wrench on the nut (not much fits in there!), and put my 300+ lbs. on it. It moved pretty easily! In fact, I turned the nut about 1/4 turn, and was able...
A hot water heater, especially with a cooling system with the capacity of a Deuces, should be plenty to heat a Deuce. It just might take more than the stock heater to do it. I have a small 3.9 Cummins in my Durango, and in the winter with the radiator completely blocked and a good t-stat in it...
The main thing I'm seeing overlooked by most posters is TRAILER BRAKES. I see at least one poster mentioned it. If the trailer has brakes, NO PROBLEM. For some reason people get scared over somewhat large loads pulled behind a pickup. If the trailer is properly set up, the trailer STOPS ITSELF...
The one I picked was THIS ONE. No real reason I chose it, other than it was pretty cheap, looked small enough to give some mounting options, and I think 25k will be enough. Its only 12v, but for what little amperage its rated for drawing, I'm just going to wire it to one battery.
I can report...
So far from the responses on here and what I saw when I checked out one of my father's Deuces, I'm leaning toward the aftermarket hot water heaters. Yes, the radiator will be blocked...thats SOP up here anyway. From seeing the room thats available in the trucks, I think I'll try the heater I...

Please refer to a previous post I made in this thread about my friend who was offered a choice of taking $125k for a home and property which the house along cost over $150k, home and property were evaluated by the town at $200k, and he owed almost $200k on (new house, actual market value...
The worse thing I see is when someone canibalizes a decent Deuce to use the axles under a 4x4. That would be like pulling a Rolls Royce apart just to put the hood on a Pinto. I can see pulling apart a junker, but I've seen too many running, driving Deuces pulled apart for them. Part of the...
Wow! I like the price of that! Let us know how it performs when you get it installed...and when it gets a little cooler where you are.
wsucougarx- the instant heat is one reason I would strongly consider the fuel-fired heater for my own personal truck. But there is no way it would bring more...
Sorry 12vctd, didn't realize you had some cold-weather experience. I was just razzing you...the reason for the wink in my first post.
Coolant heaters will warm the block well, but I have to disagree about warming the oil- there is no coolant anywhere near the oil, it only circulates a bit...
I've read quite a bit about the original heaters offered for the Deuce, but I'd like to learn more. I live in an area that gets quite cold. -30 is typical for a few weeks during the winter. I like the idea of keeping a Deuce stock, but I want to know if stock is good enough, or is the best...
