When did the nuts change from 6 sided to 5 sided./ I went to dismount a wheel today and spent 10 minutes trying to find a socket until I realized that the nuts were 5 sided. When did thy change or did I just get an odd ball rim?
Again I can't find the right TM.
I removed the steering linkage from the steering box to the axel, ? drag link, to be able to remove the axel from the truck in order to add a locker. What is the adjustment. All the way down and line up the cotter pin or is there a specific adjustment or torque?
OK can someone explain? Why is grease needed to be packed in the front steering knuckles on the deuce? OK on the old 4 ball joints I understand but on the new style “U” joints, why does grease need to be packed inside of the knuckles. I tore my front axel down to install a locker. After...
I found these rims's. They look like a deuce bolt pattern but are tubless and the rims center is about 1/2" thick. The tires are 15 X 19.5. Any idea what they fit?
I am installing a locker into my front axel on my M35. Anybody know the torque specs for the cap bolts and carrier halves? I have looked and looked and can't find the TM with it in it.
I had a post sometime back before I singled my truck. I am running 15.5’s on widened rims. I have front lockout hubs with air shift. I am running a single lockout hub on the center axel for on road use.
Where to start with lockers? I only have one locker at this time. Would it be better in...
OK I have a M37 project. Motor was locked up so the head was pulled off. Lots of rust in the cylinder from a bad head gasket.
I also have a Willys wagon project. It would only try to run and was getting hot so I finaly pulled the head. Same thing. What is the deal with the 6 cylinder...
What is needed to change the gearing in the M37. I have never been inside the rear ends. I know that my rear pinion will screw in and out so it will need to be fixed. I don't have the truck here to look at. I saw a gear set that says it will change the ratio from 583 to 489. The PIC of the...
I scored another 15.5 XL and it came with a rim. It was a real pain to get the tire dismounted. The lip inside the rim that holds the "O" ring stopped the tire from coming off. After a lot of sledge hammering I got it. I know why they have started replacing the wheels and tires as a unit.
The...
I am in need of an air compressor belt. Mine is separating and has flipped over. Just not come off yet. 1st where is a good place to get one? 2nd what is needed to replace the belt? I have seen a wrench, which I don’t have, for removing the pulley. Can it be done w/o the wrench? Is there...
Almost a disaster
I repacked all my wheel bearings except for the front right. It had a leaking wheel cylinder so I was waiting until I got a wheel cylinder kit. Well I had a flat on the way to recovering Barrman’s truck so this was a good time to tear it down. All the rest of the bearings...
OK, I went to super singles on the deuce. I took a stock rim and added 3” to the outside of the rim to make a 10” rim. Spin balanced the rims and added weight, steel plate welded to the rim, to balance the rim. I Mounted Michelin 15.5 / 20’s with heavy tube and flap on the rims. Ran one...
Thinking about adding lockers or spools to the M35.
For the front axel I thought about a spool. Only time it would be used is off road. I have Overson lockout hubs so on road it would be unlocked. Any real advantages to using a locker up front over a spool if not used on road?
Rear axel I...
The roller bearing is exposed and no seal. I am guessing that there is a cover that bolts on like other winches or did it mate to something else?
Anybody have a cover?
